Unibet UK Poker Tour London — Cullen Wins!

Lawrence Cullen, a poker player from the UK, managed to record a significant victory on his home court. He beat the field of 714 entries to win the 2020 Unibet UK Poker Tour London £220 Main Event.

The tour took place at Aspers Casino Westfield Stratford City, and the winner took home a hefty prize of £25,500.

Cullen has now officially recorded his first big cash. It wasn’t an easy battle for him, as he never had the lead in the game until he faced Callum Pooles in the heads-up play when he managed to turn the tides.

He stated that he had won a small tournament several weeks before Unibet UK Poker Tour London, but that this had been his biggest win so far. He added that the event he had played before had been a significant confidence boost. That eventually lead to him winning this tournament as well.

Needless to say, the victor was feeling very excited about his achievement, as his goal was to reach the final table. Now that he has managed to do so much more, it’s only natural to assume that this would be another big boost for his confidence and his further career as a poker player.

The entire tournament was a huge success as it attracted many more players than anticipated. The original guaranteed prize was £50,000.

However, so many attended that they created a massive prize pool of £141,372. In other words, all the records were broken for the Unibet UK Poker Tour London.

The previous record was in 2018 when Paul Romain managed to beat the field, which then consisted only of 289 players who generated a prize pool of £57,800.

The Final Table Review

The final table consisted of nine players in total, and the first one to hit the rail was a player called Vlad Munteanu from Romania who managed to win £2,610. After him, it was a Singapore player Mark Wong who lost all chips and had to go home with a total of £3,480 in his pocket.

Seventh place was reserved for Martin Tse from Hong Kong, who managed to win £4,350. He was followed by another Romanian player named Valentin Ghioca, who managed to earn a total of £5,250.

Lithuania’s Bartas Samoska ended up fifth with a total of £6,500 in his pocket. The remaining four players were all from the UK, meaning the home-court advantage was definitely present.

Micahel Isguzo ended up fourth, winning a total of £8,800. He was followed by Damien Pilkington-Lewis, who earned a total of £12,200 as the third-placed player, leaving Callum Pooles and Cullen to duel for the first prize.

Cullen managed to take the lead away from Pooles, finishing in the first position in the end. Pooles had to accept the consolation prize of £18,319.
