Jonas Wexler Wins 2019 WSOP Circuit Harrah’s Cherokee Main Event

Harrah’s Cherokee is one of the most significant stops of the World Series of Poker Circuit, series and it wrapped up two days ago when Jonas Wexler managed to win Harrah’s Cherokee $1,700 Main Event. He managed to win a total sum of $300,536, beating a 1,087 strong field and claiming the second gold ring in his career. Wexler won his first gold ring back in 2011. This is the largest live cash Wexler has ever received, with the second one being back in 2009 when he played a WSOP final table and won a total of $189,555. At the moment, Wexler has more than $1 million in cashes.

This was a premier WSOPC stop as it always has lucrative prize pools and many people who are interested in taking part in it. The Main Event alone drew more than a thousand players who created a prize pool of $1.6 million. A total of 117 players were got paid, and some of them who did not manage to make it to the final table but entered the cash list include Calvin Anderson, Jared Jaffe, Allen Kessler, Greg Raymer, Richard Seymour, and Tyler Patterson.

The Final Table Results

A total of nine players entered the final table part of the event. The first player to hit the rail was Aaron Gunn, who won $29,807 as the ninth-place player. Noah Shefrin soon followed him in eighth place and won $37,399. The seventh place was occupied by Dennis Brand, who won $47,444, and Andre McIlvain ended up sixth for $60,8666. Furthermore, Amy Patel was in fifth place, winning $78,997, and Steven Grybas ended up fourth for $103,749. The last player to hit the rail before the heads-up play began was Spencer Champlin, who won $137,936.

The heads-up play was between Phil Hernz and Jonas Wexler, and Hernz had a 2-1 chip lead at the start. Nevertheless, Wexler had approximately 50 big blinds, so a long final part of the tournament was expected. Wexler managed to double up early into the play and took not a full hour to end the game and win the first place. Hernz went all in with an Ace and a two, and Wexler called with pocket sixes, only to flop a set.

Apart from winning the first prize and the cash prize, Wexler also managed to secure a seat into the Global Casino Championship event, which has $1 million in guaranteed prizes. However, he was not the only one who received this honor since Typer Phillips accumulated the most points at this stop. Although he did not manage to win any rings, Phillips had a total of six cashes and two final tables during the tournament, with one of them being a second-place finish for $22,629. He also managed to be a part of the multi-flight event’s final table and ended up on the seventh place out of the 3,186-strong field, winning $24,680.
