EPT Online event #7 wrapped up after Daniel “SmilleThHero” Smiljkovic managed to win the first prize of $113,490, including $59,030 in bounties. Smiljkovic played against “luelue399” and was a heavy underdog but managed to stage a magnificent comeback, which eventually made him a winner of the PokerStars EPT Online event.
The event attracted a total of 334 entries. Out of them, 242 were unique players, and 92 were reentries. The final prize pool of EPT Online #7 was $668,000.
Even though Daniel Smiljkovic has had some success in live poker tournaments, his battleground turned out to be online poker. Daniel managed to record wins in plenty of big tournaments, including World Series of Poker, SCOOP, and even High Roller Club. However, his biggest score to date is his latest one, which he won as part of EPT Online.
On the other hand, his heads-up opponent “luelue399” has managed to score more significant cashes in the past, and the most recent one was after taking down the WCOOP-63-H: $3,100 NLHE (8-Max, Progressive KO, Freezout, Thursday Thrill SE) where he won a total of $171,300.
The Final Table Overview
The tournament started with 77 players, and Eduardo Pires was the first player to score an elimination, sending “Dynamonster” to the rail. Being a bounty tournament, we could see players trying to score as many bounties as they can. When the registration period closed, there were only 90 players, and 41 of them entered the money list.
The bubble burst after an hour, with Sam Greenwood hitting the rail. Some of the popular players entered the money list but failed to reach the final table, including David Laka, who recently won the first-ever EPT online event.
The final table consisted of nine players, and the first one to hit the rail was “mmetsla” from Estonia, who won a total of $12,117, with $5,250 being from the bounties. After them, Thomas Boivin from Belgium followed with $16,134, including $7,500 bounty money.
Seventh-place was reserved for the Finnish player Joni Jouhkimainen, who earned $6,000 in bounties and $11,445 as prize money, winning a total of $17,445.
“S.N.I.N.1” from Moldova hit the rail in sixth place and won less than Jouhkimainen, as they won only $2,250 in bounties. The final prize was $17,420.
A player nicknamed “lesha-bablo” ended in fifth place for $23,952 ($3,844 in bounties), and Aleksejs Ponakovs from Estonia hit the rail after that for $52,700 ($26,047 in bounties).
The last player to hit the rail before the heads-up was Andrey Chernokoz, who won a total of $41,329, as he only scored $6,000 in bounties.
Therefore, the heads-up started with “luelue399” having a 2:1 chip lead and applying pressure further. Smiljkovic was only six big blinds away from hitting the rail but managed to stage a comeback, winning an important EPT title.
