The Macau Unitary Police was very content with the introduction of this technology in Macau, explaining that the software should help them significantly with deterring criminal activities in the area, especially around the casinos. One of the representatives of the police in Macau stated for GGRAsia that they had a lot of help from the software to combat illegal activities and criminals such as loan sharks.
The main idea is that facial recognition technology could recognize the faces of people who are either restricted to enter casinos or are excluded from entering casino floors. However, Melco’s officials explained that there have been a lot of data privacy complaints. Simply put, people do not like being recognized everywhere they go, and it is considered a breach of privacy of every individual, especially in the Western countries where facial recognition technology is still not used that much.

Melco has been improving in all fields, and their biggest goal at the moment is to become a better neighbor of the citizens where Melco has casinos. They have announced that they had big plans for plastic pollution reduction since Melco had been creating a lot of plastic waste in their past.
