The Indiana Gaming Commission (IGC) decided last Thursday in a meeting to act on NeoGames’ license application, whose review has lasted for almost three years. But this might be the gaming operator’s application’s last time to be prolonged.
The company applied for the gaming license in September 2020, but IGC officials stated they are concerned about one of NeoGames’ owners. It provides Caesars Sportsbook with player account management (PAM) services.
The IGC records state that NeoGames applied for an Indiana gaming license on June 8, 2020. It got a temporary license in September 2020, which has been renewed twice.
Greg Small, IGC Executive Director informed commissioners that some of its workers were skeptical about NewGames’ suitability for a permanent license. They were specifically concerned about one of the Tel Aviv-based company’s owners.
Small stated that the gaming operator and commission workers have partnered to address the concerns. Unfortunately, IGC didn’t get a resolution.
Milton Thompson, IGC Chairman got frustrated by the constant delay of the company’s permanent license application. Some commissioners were also annoyed. Commissioner Michael Williams stated that everyone needs to play their role in the issue rather than procrastinating.
He urged the commission’s staff to offer a clear action plan before the commission receives the application in June. Still, Caesars Entertainment and NeoGames haven’t replied to messages that they received on Thursday.
NeoGames Is Determined to Broaden its Clientele
Caesars and NeoGames have partnered for almost five years. The latter signed a contract in October 2018 with William Hill to provide its online bookmakers with exemplary PAM services. Caesars announced in 2020 that it had purchased William Hill and later sold its non-American assets to 888 Holdings in 2022.
Caesars got 24.5 percent ownership of William Hill’s share in iLottery and iGaming when it bought it. But it later changed its focus in March 2022.
NeoGames is still striving to venture into new United States gaming markets despite not acquiring a permanent license in Indiana. It declared on Friday that Pariplay, its content subsidiary, agreed to offer New Jersey’s DraftKings casino with different games.
Tsachi Maimon, NeoGames President stated that they revealed their intention in North America when they launched new iGaming content in New Jersey. Moreover, they are interested in extending their collaboration with DraftKings.
NeoGames stated that Pariplay will provide DraftKings with iGaming content in West Virginia and Michigan. But the company is awaiting license approvals from other states.
Horseshoe and Ameristar Casinos Are Found Guilty
IGC commissioners passed disciplinary measures against 20 sports gaming operators, companies, vendors, and casinos on Thursday. Ameristar and Penn Entertainment got the largest fines.
Ameristar runs a gaming venue in East Chicago. Penn Entertainment got $37,000 in fines after having five counts. A bookie supervisor made the biggest violation when they failed to collect payment after allowing gamblers to bet through text messages.
Horseshoe Hammond had five counts and will pay a $34,000 fine. Caesars fired 16 workers without getting the commission’s approval.
IGC’s order showed that the gaming operator had told it that it will fire the employees. But, commission workers said that they would only approve that move if Caesars’ leadership followed the right procedure. The casino eliminated several positions like an executive sous chef and marketing director in August 2022.
