Xaviar Babudar is an ardent Kansas City Chiefs fan who uses the name ChiefsAholic on his social media profiles. He likes wearing werewolf custom in each game.
Even so, the police arrested Babudar last weekend near Sacramento, California. The sports diehard also got arrested in Oklahoma in December 2022 for robbing a bank while visiting the Houston Texans to watch a City Chiefs game. The authorities detained him up to February 8, 2023, in a Tulsa County jail.
His bail was reduced from $200,000 to $80,000. Babudar posted bail before cutting his ankle monitor and avoided his arraignment in March. The City Chiefs were awaiting the Super Bowl in Arizona when Babudar was released.
The fan previously placed two wagers; Patrick Mahomes bagging the National Football League (NFL) Most Valuable Player (MVP) award and the Kansas City Chiefs being the Super Bowl champions. The two bets would earn him $100,000 if his predictions were correct. But, Babudar didn’t reveal whether he received his winnings.
The Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) apprehended him last weekend. He is alleged to be involved in two unsuccessful bank robberies in Minnesota and several robberies in Iowa, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Nebraska.
Rumors claim that Babudar bought casino chips worth over $1,000,000 during that period in Illinois, Kansas, and Missouri. He cashed in them before depositing his winnings in several Kansas City bank accounts.
The NFL diehard is believed to have bought the chips at Harrah’s Casino, Argosy Casino, Ameristar Casino, Bally’s Casino, Hollywood Casinos in St. Louis, and Hollywood Casino in Kansas City. The police believe that he cashed $1,070,000 in chips out of the $1,100,000 stack he bought and laundered the stolen money.
Steve Kunzweiler, Tulsa County District’s Attorney, stated that he appreciated the FBI’s efforts in tracing and apprehending Babudar. Tulsa County arrested and charged him in December. So, his office aims to prosecute the sports enthusiasts in Tulsa County District Court before he is taken to a federal court.
The attorney’s statement added that Babudar is a justice fugitive from his jurisdiction after the court reduced his bond despite his office’s objection. He believes that the fan is a security threat to the public.
Moreover, he is glad no one suffered from Babudar’s violence in Tulsa County when he brandished a gun at a bank employee in the December robbery. The fan threatened to shoot the employee’s head if she failed to cooperate.
Will Babudar Face Other Charges?
The City Chiefs fan is currently facing transporting stolen property in different states and bank robbery with a lethal weapon charges that are linked to Tulsa County’s December robber. Yet, he is linked to more than four other robberies. So, he might face extra casino money laundering charges.
The Western Missouri Attorney’s office stated that a federal grand jury will hear Babudar’s case and rule on the extra charges. Reports state that his phone was in the affected areas when the robberies occurred.
