Illinois launched its newest casino last weekend. Full House Resorts built The Temporary at American Place, and it offers a wide array of games, including blackjack. It will run the gaming venue as it constructs a permanent casino.
The gambling company started welcoming players on Friday. It is utilizing a 68,000 square feet tension membrane that Sprung Industries constructed to host a Circa Sports bookie, 50 table games, and 1,000 slot machines.
Dan Lee, Full House Resorts’ CEO, and President, thanked the Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) for helping them as they developed and prepared The Temporary. He also appreciated their 500 founding workers for working diligently throughout the temporary casino’s development. It is at the Fountain Square of Waukegan, the same site where Full House intends to construct a $400 million American Plan Casino Resort.
Why Does Full House Value the Gaming Venue?
The Temporary is likely to pay dividends for Full House soon. Lee revealed in the gaming operator’s Q3 earnings call in November with analysts that the new casino might outperform the parent company. He disclosed that the Potawatomi Casino in Milwaukee, Grand Victoria Elgin, and Rivers Des Plaines in Illinois rake in $1.2 billion in annual revenues.
Lee informed the analysts that Lake County, near Chicago, is a wealthy county in the country. Besides, The Temporary is the only gaming property in the region, and it is in the middle.
So, the CEO believes that the temporary casino will mainly focus on attracting local players to broaden its clientele. American Place will mostly target high-stake players.
The Mansion partially forms Full House Resorts’ initial development. It is a hotel that will feature 20 private villas, each covering 1,500 to 2,500 square feet. Still, the company will build another hotel in its resort project’s second phase.
Will the Number of Casinos in Illinois Increase Soon?
The Illinois legislature approved extra gaming licenses in Waukegan and five communities after passing an expanded gaming regulation in 2019. The state initially had 10 casinos before it amended its constitution.
Hard Rock Café International launched a temporary casino in Rockford in November 2021, and it might open its permanent casino in November. Golden Nugget is planning to launch a temporary casino in Danville this spring. Moreover, the Walker’s Bluff Casino will open later this year in Carterville.
Chicago and its south suburbs will witness a surge in their casinos. The city’s officials chose Bally’s Corporation in 2022 to develop a $1.7 billion casino resort along the Chicago River. It is the same land where the Chicago Tribune printing plant stands.
Even so, the gaming operator will launch a temporary venue at the Medinah Temple before opening the Chicago River Resort in 2026. The IGB hasn’t yet approved Bally’s Corporation’s application for the gaming license.
Wind Creek is building a 70,000 square feet Wind Creek Chicago Southland casino. It is a short drive from the Indiana state line, has a 252-room cozy hotel, 56 table games, and 1,350 slot machines.
