It has been a fortunate stretch of highly competitive ranked matchups in the college basketball scene, but the SEC is bringing in a lopsided affair on Wednesday night.
The highly ranked, and highly talented, Alabama Crimson Tide will be on the road to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks.
South Carolina, who has a paltry record to say the least, has a negative point differential on the season and has yet to prove to be competitive against their tougher opponents.
Alabama is no joke, as they were ranked number one overall just a week ago before their loss to the Tennessee Volunteers.
A gifted scorer leading the way, Brandon Miller has looked smooth all season long and is averaging nearly 20 points per game for the Crimson Tide.
If South Carolina does not find a way to step up their offense in this game, it could very well get ugly and get ugly fast. Currently, the spread favors Alabama on the road at a whopping -17.5.
Proving to be on the top level of college basketball
In terms of blue blood programs, the Crimson Tide are usually only brought up in conversation when it comes to football.
Their basketball program has taken off in recent years, and they are having one of their best seasons with their team across the board.
It really is all about offense for them, and they have one of the most explosive offenses in college basketball. South Carolina is going to have trouble putting together any stops for them.
Expect Miller to have a huge game early and earn himself the chance to rest early in the second half. Alabama is shaping up to have a dominant display of offense.
Gathering any leftover pieces in South Carolina
At one point of the season, the Gamecocks were at least playing .500 basketball. Their roster wasn’t the most talented, but they were able to outwork some of their opponents.
In their last 13 games, they are a measly 3-10 and including losing eight straight games.
Frustrating is underselling how difficult this season must be for both the coaches and their players. The biggest struggle has to be their offense, which only averages about 65 points per game.
Those types of numbers will just not get it done in this day and age of college basketball. Scoring on Alabama will not be an easy task for them on Wednesday night.
