WSOPE Main Event: Alexandros Kolonias Wins!

The World Series of Poker Europe has come to an end with the conclusion of the Main Event. The tournament that took place at King’s Resort in Rozvadov, Czech Republic, has been a really exciting one, and it ended up with a total of 15 gold bracelets distributed to the most successful players.

Every tournament has a main event, and so does WSOPE, and the player who wins it is usually the overall winner of the tournament. This time, the player who managed to top the list and win a hefty reward was a poker lover from Greece named Alexandros Kolonias. Kolonias managed to earn a total of €1,133,678 after defeating a German player, Claas Segebrecht, in an exciting heads-up match.

There were a total of 541 entries for the main event, and a prize pool of €5,139,500 was created. This is officially the second biggest WSOPE Main Event ever, meaning a lot of players from all over the world traveled to the Czech Republic to test their skills and luck against other poker enthusiasts.

Naturally, Kolonias was more than excited when he took down the Main Event, stating that he still hasn’t “figured out” what he was able to achieve. He added that he was really excited about the victory and that he had played pretty well from the start.

He added that one of the levels hadn’t worked out well for him, but that he had managed to work it out and win the whole thing.

Kolonias is not the type of poker player who looks forward to playing as many tournaments as possible. In fact, he only plays five to six of them every year, and he even traveled to Rozvadov only one day before the start of the Main Event, meaning he did not take part in any other events in this year’s WSOPE. On the other hand, Kolonias is pretty active in online poker.

Nevertheless, winning this tournament is definitely Kolonias’ biggest achievement and the first seven-figure score in his career. However, he plans to keep things as they are, meaning that he will not increase the number of live tournaments he plays.

The Final Table Results

A total of eight players managed to make it to the final table, and the first one who had to hit the rail was a player from Denmark, Jakob Madsen, who earned a total of €99,555. He was followed by a Frenchman, Julien Martini, for €132,017, while the sixth position was occupied by a player from Sweden named Rifat Palevic, who snatched a total of €178,171.

The fifth position was occupied by Anh Do, a player from the Czech Republic, who won €244,653, and an Italian named Dario Sammartino ended up fourth for €341,702. The last player to hit the rail before the heads-up part of the game was Anthony Zinno from the US, who managed to win €485,291. Finally, Segebrecht had to settle for second place and a sum of €700,639.
