Final Table Set for 2017 WSOP Main Event

World Series of Poker

The 2017 World Series of Poker Main Event final table has been set after seven days of intense game play. For this year, the WSOP has decided to return to the old format where the Main Event final table finishes out now instead of waiting until November to crown a winner. The $10,000 buy-in tournament stopped early this morning as the tenth player was eliminated from the event and the final table set. Players will come back to the felt on Thursday to compete to see who will earn the coveted gold bracelet and the $8.15 million prize.

Michael Ruane would be eliminated in 10th place taking home $825,001 in prize money. With nine players remaining, each will earn a minimum of $1 million and all hoping to be the last player standing and the winner of the big event.

The chip leader going into the final table is Scott Blumstein with 97,250,000. From New Jersey, Scott is competing in the Main Event for the very first time and plays frequently online as he lives in a state where online poker gaming is legal and regulated. Second in chips is John Hesp with 85,700,000, a British player who is 64 years old and the oldest person remaining at the final table.

Both Scott and John hold a big chip lead when you consider third in chips is Benjamin Pollack with 35,175,000. Pollack may be way behind the top two chip holders but his experience in the game of poker is sure to help him as he fights to earn the WSOP bracelet. He has previously finished in 27th place back in 2013 when he competed in the event.

Each of the remaining players each hold less than 33,000,000 chips and may find it hard to make a comeback or take the chip lead. It will certainly be interesting to watch as the WSOP Main Event final table finishes out and who will eventually be crowned the winner for 2017!
