WSOP 2017 Main Event Update; Christian Pham in the Lead with 27 Remaining

World Series of Poker

The 2017 48th Annual World Series of Poker is about to come to an end and the much-anticipated Main Event is now down to the final 27. Christian Pham is in the lead going into Day 7 of the event, with 31,440,000 in chips. A total of 7,221 players ponied up the $10,000 buy-in to compete in the event, creating a total prize pool of $67,877,400.

Going into today’s game play, the 27 remaining players will compete until the official nine-handed final table is created. Pham is currently holding a nice chip lead with quite a bit more than Valentin Messina who is second in chips with 28,590,000. Each of the 27 remaining players will want to make it to the final table as those who have a coveted seat will be able to earn at least a $1 million payday. First place stands to take home $8,150,000.

Pham is ready to continue his quest for the title, having earned his spot in the Main Event via a qualifier of just $575. He was close to going home on Day 5 but was able to stay in the game and gain ground later on to become the chip leader going into day. Several top players remain including Ben Lamb and Antoine Saout. Both players want to claim the title having each finished in third place during the Main Event in the past.

Once the field has been narrowed down to the final nine, the final table will run from July 20th to the 22nd. This year, the WSOP decided to do away with the November Nine and focus on finishing out the event in Las Vegas, Nevada without the delay. Over the next few days, we shall see who hangs on and makes it to the final round of Main Event game play.
