Week 3 Monday Night Football: Pittsburgh Steelers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

In this Monday night showdown, we’ll see which QB is going to keep up his pace. This is also going to see if James Conner is ready for the pressure of playing primetime football.

This is the last game before Jameis Winston is eligible to return from his suspension, so it is very important for Ryan Fitzpatrick’s lasting impression to be made.

Pittsburgh Steelers

After he has held out for the first three weeks, the Steelers finally announced a few days ago that Le’Veon Bell trades are being looked into. This means that his time here may well be done, and this is James Conner’s team moving forward. Though they are winless through two weeks, it has been the defense, and not their missing RB that has caused this to happen.

They were playing catch-up with the Chiefs all game long, while their offense just kept turning the ball over and keeping Cleveland in their week one matchup. The receivers look fantastic, they just have to start slowing down opposing QB’s.

If they can keep Ryan Fitzpatrick from getting off to a quick start in the first quarter, that could be enough. He tends to feed off momentum, and can start throwing interceptions left and right at times. If they can frustrate him, that could be a major turning point. They have a huge edge in the run-game, so Peyton Barber isn’t somebody they have to worry about. The defense will make the difference for Pitt tonight. Big Ben is good enough.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

After Jameis got suspended, the idea that they could be playing for a 3-0 record in this game was laughable. But, with one of the league’s top offenses in the early going, here we are. Ryan Fitzpatrick has been on another level, making many receivers around him better. All they are lacking is a run game, as Peyton Barber has struggled to gain separation from defenders. The Bucs defense hasn’t been anything special in the team’s first two games but has done enough to help the team keep their big leads.

In order to get it done tonight, Ryan Fitzpatrick will have to get it going and keep it that way. His impressive slinging ability has this team where they sit right now. They need more of it. DeSean, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, all of these guys need to keep it up. OJ Howard is also starting to come into his own as a big-play tight end, reminding us why he was a first-round pick last year.

Bucs improve to 3-0, keep Pittsburgh winless

Playing under the lights at home in primetime, the Bucs will walk away from this one 3-0. And it will be made clear that Fitz will be the starter moving forward, and the recently eligible Jameis Winston.

300 yards and 3 TD’s from Fitzpatrick will help power Tampa Bay to a hard-fought victory.
