Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions Betting Preview

Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions Betting Preview

The Bears and Lions will play on Thanksgiving in a game featuring teams with a combined 3-16-1 record. Chicago is coming off blowing a game to Baltimore’s backup QB, while Detroit is looking to grab their first win still. There is also a chance that each team will be without its starting QB for this yearly Detroit tradition.

The Bears were not playing very well when they lost Justin Fields on Sunday and actually scored two touchdowns with Andy Dalton out there after failing to find the end zone with their starter.

They have dealt with a lot this year, but they have, without a doubt, been underwhelming. Losing has become the norm, despite a playoff trip last year. Things are very much not under control here.

The Lions have not had much to cheer about this year, as they are still yet to amass a win. They are one of two teams to ever go 0-16 in a calendar year, and now they enter their eleventh game without a victory to cheer about. They have undergone a number of personnel changes and dealt with the injury bug, but nobody could have possibly expected it to be like this.

Perhaps Thanksgiving will be their lucky day. They have had their moments on this day in the past. Let’s see if it can happen for them again.

Betting Odds & Lines

The early spread is set at CHI -3.5. The over/under is 41.5 points. The CHI line is -184, while DET is +157.

Bears Looking for Fourth Win

Regardless of whether it is Justin Fields or Dalton out there, the team is coming in with the belief that a win is very likely. Facing a winless team that has just not had the energy this year, all the opportunities will be present for them to try and get it done here. They have the run game and the playmakers on defense; it just never comes all together.

They will hope to get Allen Robinson back so that they can provide some help for Darnell Mooney. And, of course, they have Marquise Goodwin as a deep threat, though he does not get too many targets.

Look for Khalil Mack to wreak some havoc out there.

Lions Seek First Win

The Dan Campbell era has featured tough football, impassioned speeches, and a whole lot of losing. At 0-9-1, the rebuild is on in Detroit, and they have not yet been able to triumph. Jared Goff is obviously no Matthew Stafford, but this has been a whole different level of bad.

The running game has been very good, a rare area they have no issues with. The receivers have not been too great, while the secondary is just not healthy. Losing Jeff Okudah before the year is one of many things that happened to doom them right away.

Perhaps though, thinking about their families and the pumpkin pie they’ll get to eat, they can fire themselves up and then go out and win the game.

Lions Win!

This is not a joke. Detroit will win. Finally, the first win. It comes in week 12. Better than 2008.
