The World Poker Tour recently postponed a tournament at bestbet Jacksonville because of the COVID-19 spread in Florida, among other rumors. But, the brand is returning with online games to replace ones that could occur in physical poker rooms. In association with BetMGM, the brand is moving one of its events from Atlantic City to Borgata Poker Open online.
This is one of the partypoker U.S. Network Online Series meant to occur in September. World Poker Tour will hold the WPT Online Borgata Open on partypoker U.S software.
The Event Starts on September 19 Through September 21
The online series by partypoker is scheduled to run from September 12 to September 21. The preliminary matches will lead to the WPT Main Event, which starts on September 19 at a partypoker software operated by three brands.
There will be the usual $3500 buy-in and $1 million guarantees. Reentries will also be available. As earlier reported in another post, the winner will get their name embedded on the Mike Sexton WPT Champions’ Cup.
The chief executive of the WPT said they were happy that the online tournaments were reinforced by one of the best casinos on the tour, Borgata. Adam Pliska also noted that the WPT Online Borgata Poker Open marked the homecoming of Sexton Cup to the Garden City.
Angelica Hael had something to add. She noted that New Jersey had continued to be the leading state in regulated online poker. Angelica was thrilled that her brand, World Poker Tour, was partnering with BetMGM.
The upcoming event is the fourth that WPT and BetMGM are hosting together in two years. Last year, the two hosted three series. Angelica hopes that the partnership between the two brands will grow to greater heights.
To Creating a Long Successful History
One of the WPT circuits stops is the WPT Borgata Poker Open. It has a low buy-in as compared to others and comes with several Day Ones and huge guarantees.
In the previous years, the event has attracted huge fields. But, we are yet to see if this kind of success will reflect on the online event.
To take part in the WPT Online Borgata Poker Open Main Event, you have to be geographically within the Garden City borders. This is not a new thing as it has been happening.
But, the event will not be held in a live location but online on the partypoker client that is operated by BetMGM, Borgata poker, and partypoker NJ.
Many players have already qualified for the main event by playing satellites on the software. But, it is still a mystery whether the brand will attract over 1313 entries as it did in 2021, with the 2021 World Series of Poker scheduled just after the WPT event.
But, BetMGM is still excited about its partnership with WPT. Through its vice president of gaming, BetMGM said it was happy to partner again to bring the online poker event to players based in New Jersey.
Matthew Sunderland said that the last event the two brands hosted was a success. He added that the brands were looking forth to offering New Jersey players a segment of prize money from the $1 million guaranteed prizes.
