Managing to beat the field of 1,039, Ramon Colillas has had an opportunity to win this incredible trophy and has his name written down among the poker legends. Apart from the final prize money, he was also awarded an additional $1 million by PokerStars, earning a total of $6.1 million in this tournament.

It seems that Ramon Colillas was not really the favorite to win the title, as many other poker legends also took part in this tournament. In fact, prior to winning this event, Colillas had a bit more than $10k in live cashes. However, he is not really new to this game as he has been playing poker professionally for more than a decade. The 30-year-old player from Spain managed to win his Platinum Pass for the tournament by topping the leaderboard on a small Spanish live tournament. He probably did not even dream about winning the PSPC when he was going to the Bahamas to take part in this prestigious competition.

In fact, he did not expect much after winning his poker holiday to the Bahamas that was worth $30,000 in total. He was well aware of the fact that he was going to face both Platinum Pass winners and real professionals who had set their minds to winning the title.

Colillas actually considered his advancing to the last day a great achievement and was more than happy when he entered the final table, but did not think about winning the tournament.

When we take a look at other people who shared the final table with him, it was obvious that he was not really a favorite among them. Players such as Marc Perrault, Scott Baumstein, and Julien Martini were much bigger favorites for winning the title.

Out of the last three remaining players, two of them were actually Platinum Pass winners. Marc Rivera went down and Julien Martini faced Ramon Colillas in the exciting heads-up play. The two players reached the turning point only after ten hands of play when Martini managed to flop a flush, only to face the full house that Colillas managed to make on the river. This left Martini with less than 20 big blinds, and he soon managed to lose it all to Colillas, who adopted Moneymaker’s playstyle in the heads-up play. In fact, even Chris Moneymaker himself was amazed at how Colillas played during the last part of the tournament. All in all, the Spaniard is going back home as a poker multi-millionaire!
