In the past, poker players who wanted to enjoy a career in the game could easily log online and attempt to become a poker pro in the US. However, after Black Friday in 2011, things changed. Online poker was not so readily available and players were forced to give up their dream or move to areas that offer quality poker gaming in live form such as Las Vegas, Nevada. Even now, with only three states offering online poker gaming, players can be better off pursuing a career in major tournaments such as those that take place in Las Vegas.

James Piccolo of New Jersey is one such individual chasing the poker dream. Piccolo moved from New Jersey to Las Vegas in 2015 to pursue a career as a professional player. So far, Piccolo had earned just over $110,000 by playing online poker in Las Vegas and won $8,102 by playing in live tournaments. Piccolo returned home to New Jersey back in January to support his father who was going to have surgery due to a cancer diagnosis. As he was in New Jersey, online poker was available, so he began to play the Spin & Go game offered by PokerStars. The decision paid off and Piccolo was able to earn a nice $100,000 jackpot win from the game.

On the 29th of January, Piccolo was competing in a Spin & Go game at PokerStars NJ and had been playing for a few hours when he was notified that the was competing with two others for $120,000 in prize money. Piccolo’s brother was on hand at the time and actually videoed him playing, teasing him the entire time.

During game play, Piccolo would eliminate one of the two competitors after just ten hands. He would then enter in heads up play and soon be down 300 chips to 1,200. Yet, Piccolo would fight back and gain the lead, soon seeing his opponent going all-in preflop with Q-7. Piccolo would call with K-7 and earn the first place prize with the higher card. Piccolo was rewarded with $100,000 while the two competitors took home $10,000 for their efforts.

The Spin & Go poker format at PokerStars can be played in New Jersey and offers a quick way for players to earn as much as 1,000 times the buy-in. Buy-ins start at just $1, making the option affordable and the randomly assigned prize pool makes game play exciting.

Players are provided with 500 chips in their starting stack and will be competing in a 3-Max Hyper-Turbo SNG format. Pay $1 to $25 to compete and have the ability to earn as much as 2 to 1,000 times the buy-in in prize money.
