A huge announcement was made by Americas Cardroom, an online poker site available in the US via the Winning Poker Network. It was announced today, via press release, that both ACR and it’s network, Winning Poker, will not be serving players who live in a marketplace where poker sites are now state-licensed.
This would currently include Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware. The change is effective immediately and players who are located in these states will not have access to the Winning Poker Network sites, which includes Americas Cardroom.
Michael Harris is a spokesperson for Americas Cardroom and commented on the change stating that the goal of the online poker site is to build a poker community where the players are first and play is fair.
Because of this, the network of the site, Winning Poker, has decided to stop offering services in Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware. The decision was based on the ‘availability of a regulated poker market in those states’.
In the past, Americas Cardroom offered poker to players online across the globe, even if players live in a market that does not have licensing or regulation for operators locally. Because the three states allow for local poker sites to operate with licensing in-state, the WPN will be removing their services from these areas. One would imagine that any state that decides to create legislation and regulation in the future would also lose services of the WPN.
Any player who has an account on the Winning Poker Network, that is located in Nevada, New Jersey or Delaware, will be able to access their online poker account to withdrawal any balance. As of today, real money game play to these players will not be able to access game play.
Harries continued by stating that the online poker room is growing at a rapid rate outside of the three regulated markets so players will soon see more action at gaming tables and larger guarantees, above what was promised.
