The 2020 World Series of Poker Online is currently taking place on two online poker rooms simultaneously — WSOP.com and GGPoker. While WSOP.com is aimed at American poker players, GGPoker offers bracelet events to players from all around the globe. One such event was Event #38: $600 Monster Stack.
The competition attracted a total of 2,007 entries that resulted in a prize pool of $1,143,990. It was the first event adjusted to the Asian time zone, meaning it was natural to see the increase of Asian players in it.
In the end, it was Aaron “fishnchip” Wijaya who took the final cash prize, along with a gold bracelet. Wijaya faced Toni “AnsuFati31” Bosch Jordana in the heads-up and managed to top the event after almost 11 hours of intense poker action.
Aaron Wijaya seems to be new to the poker world, as there is little information about his previous recorded cashes. However, it’s highly unlikely that he won a prize that’s bigger than $171,389, which was his cash prize in Event #38. On the other hand, Bosh Jordana has some recorded cashes that he made in Casino Barcelona prior to finishing as a runner-up in this event, where he managed to win $124,376.
What’s interesting about these two players was that neither of them was expected to win the event, judging by their position at the start of the final table. Wijaya was somewhere in the middle when the final table was created, but Jordana had only 20 big blinds, meaning he made really great progress to finish the competition as a runner-up.
The Final Table Overview
The great thing about the final table was that all players are required to reveal their real names. Some of the players that were at the top of the leaderboard at that moment were Kasper Mellanen, Blake Bohn, and Joao Simao.
There were four Chinese players from mainland China, and one from Hong Kong in the final table and three of them were the first to hit the rail. Hui “totoyou” Tang ended up in the ninth position with $13,184 and was followed by Kai “butouji666” Liu, who earned $18,167 for their effort.
The player who hit the rail as seventh-placed was Chun Kit “FathiSon” Leung from Hong Kong, earning $25,033 along the way.
The sixth-place belonged to Blake “Beast2018!” Bohn, the only US player in the final table of this event. Bohn earned $34,396 for his effort.
After Bohn, it was time for Joao “naturalMENTE” Simao from Brazil to leave the final table with a total of $47,534 in his pockets.
Jingxiang “Fuzzy Wuzzy!” Ong from Singapore lost all chips in the fourth position and earned a total of $65,501, and the last player to hit the rail before the heads-up was Kasper “GangstaPoker” Mellanen from Finland, who won $90,260.
The heads-up play lasted for 15 minutes when the two players swung back and forth in chips, but it was Wijaya who took the main prize in the end.
