Paul Volpe Leads the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Event’s Final Table at the PokerGO Tour Mixed Games II Series

PokerGO Tour (PGT) organized a successful maiden tournament several months ago and decided to hold another series.

It kicked off the PokerGO Tour Mixed Games II Series, comprising non-Texas Hold’em events on Thursday. The $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. tournament was the first event in the current series.

The Unique Mixed Game Format

Many poker diehards visited PokerGO Studios to witness the tournament’s tough action, as Paul Volpe was the first player to reach its final table. Several talented players were interested in the $10,000 Mixed Game format, as 41 individuals signed up for the event after the initial shuffle up and deal call.

Even so, the number increased during the event’s late registration window. It resulted to the formation of a few star-studded tables from different regions whose participants specialize in different poker variants. Some of them are “Poker Hold’empros who battled it out with non-Hold’em players.

Some Poker Hall of Famers who competed in the event included John Hennigan, John Monnette, David Benyamine, John Racener, Julien Martini and Dzmitry Urbanovich. They faced a few Texas Hold’em pros like Dylan Linde and Anthony Zinno.

Yet, the tournament featured mixed game experts like Roland Israelashvili, Mack Lee, Leonard August, Hal Rotholz, Calvin Anderson, Daniel Negreanu and David “Chino” Rheem, who registered shortly before the event’s late registration window lapsed.

PokerGO Tour recorded 72 entries before the tournament began, and it had a $720,000 prize pool. But, only the top 11 entrants would get a share of the pool, each of them eyeing the $187,200 top prize.

Volpe’s Action in the Tournament

Volpe started the event on a low note as David “ODB” Baker beat him in a tough clash and put him in a tricky position. The former had to make a second entry to continue competing and got a 150,000-chip starting stack that he grew to 580,000 chips after two hours.

The player beat Andrew Kelsall in a Wheel and collected an extra 400,000 chips. His efforts bore fruit as he had grown his stack to 2,000,000 chips by Friday morning. Besides, he had almost 3,000,000 chips when he advanced to the final table, where he will face Eli Elezra (a Poker Hall of Famer), Zinno, and Linde, among other skilled players.

The Final Table’s Chip Counts

  1. Paul Volpe-2,950,000 chips
  2. Eli Elezra-2,140,000 chips

Poker players will get an opportunity to try their luck in different poker variants for 10 days. PokerGO Studio will host the $25,000 Ten-Game Championship Event that will culminate the series on October 13.
