2022 PokerGO Tour Champion to Receive $500K in a Take-All Tournament

2022 PokerGO Tour Champion to Receive $500K in a Take-All Tournament

Some regular poker players claim that PokerGO Tour’s (PGT) tournaments test an individual’s poker skills. At times, the tour and ranking system draws eighteen talented players in its tournaments, thus making them exciting home games.

PGT is among the few poker tours which award champions with cash prizes once they finish tournaments. For example, Ali Imsirovic got $200,000 after winning a 2021 PokerGO Tour title. PGT is expected to make this year’s tournament more challenging and might have a unique tournament capper that we have never heard of for many years.

The 2022 Final Event Has a $500,000 Winner-Take-All Prize

The 2022 PokerGO Tour Championship might have significant adjustments in its format once it starts in December. The remaining 21 bettors on the PokerGO Tour Player of the Year’s (POY) leaderboard will have a caveat when they gather for the tournament.

A player’s points standings will determine their starting stacks. Thus, the POY’s leader will begin the race with the highest number of chips, and the 21st player will begin the final event being the short stack.

Different players will play down until one is declared the champion in two days. Six players who will advance to the final table will compete for the crown and will have many prizes to contend for.

The player that will survive this carnage will benefit from a $500,000 payout in a winner-take-all tournament and will be announced as the PokerGO Tour champion.

PokerGO’s president, Mori Eskandani, stated that many poker pros from different countries will compete in the PGT, and the ranking system will uniquely honor them. The official is proud to grant the 2022 PokerGO Tour champion $500,000 as the management continues celebrating talented players.

The move is unexpected in standard tournament poker. The 1976 World Series of Poker’s (WSOP) $10,000 Championship Event was the last winner-take-all event held featuring players from different nations.

That was an important year as the “Main Event” winner, Doyle Brunson, received the whole prize pool. He proved his worth at the table by winning the 1977 WSOP Championship Event.

Nick Petrangelo Tops in PokerGO Tour Standings

The PokerGO Tour has already attracted considerable action. Imsirovic is determined to win this year’s tournament despite winning the 2021 title. Yet, the poker pro will face stiff competition from two top players, Nick Petrangelo and Sean Perry.

Petrangelo has quickly jumped out of the gates this year. He had won three other PokerGO Tour events before the Wynn Millions High Roller schedule began. This makes him a front-runner in the upcoming winner-take-all tournament and Imsirovic’s new rival.

Perry battled with Imsirovic last year before he started fading down. The following are PokerGo Tour Player of the Year’s current standings:

  1. Nick Petrangelo, 1066 points
  2. Sean Perry, 859 points
  3. Ali Imsirovic, 840 points
  4. Jeremy Ausmus, 658 points
  5. Brock Wilson, 636 points
  6. Daniel Negreanu, 576 points
  7. Alex Foxen, 498 points
  8. Jake Schindler, 485 points
  9. Cary Katz, 483 points
  10. Sean Winter, 439 points

Winter and Wilson haven’t won any PGT tournament so far, while each of the other eight players has won at least one event in the tour. Both of them are cashing regularly, as Winter has cashed seven times while Wilson has cashed six times.
