London Online Betting Events Guaranteed Prize Pool Now Up To Over $2.2M

WPTDeepStacks London Online Events Exceeded $1 M Guaranteed Prize Pool to Over $2,280,700.

The very first WPTDeepStacks London Online event has successfully ended. This is a new series of events by WTP Europe and 888poker. The series included 16 events running through this week, seeing a generation of over $2,280,700 in the prize pool.

The new online series took place on 888poker platforms and attracted 8735 online players from across the world. This was an impressive number of entries considering other platforms, including GGPoker and PokerStars, were running their world-popular spring festivals this week.

The WPTDeepStacks London Online Event concluded in a $1050 buy-in for the Main Event. Among those who joined the event, 973 exceeded the buy-in, while 114 rebuys saw the increase of the prize pool to $1,087,000, an amount that exceeded the expected million-dollar guarantee.

It was a good week for South American countries as four of five events on the series were won by Brazilian players. These players also featured in the Main Event with Paulinhoo00 participated in a two-day tournament, winning $233,705. Other participants included several 888poker-sponsored players such as Dominik Nitsche, who finished 8th and won $21740.

An Ambition That Turned Into Tangible Success

The vice president of WPT Europe, Hermance Blum, couldn’t help showing his excitement about the new series. “Definitely a promising start as it exceeded the million Guarantee on the Main Event,” Hermance noted. He was pleased by their first-ever online event through the partnership between 888poker and WPT Europe.

Instead of taking the usual steps other online poker events host take, this new partnership took a different path to attract players. The event reached a wider audience by providing bigger buy-ins than usual. According to Blum, this was an exciting experience for players, which led to more players joining the event.

Blum also hopes that WPT will continue to offer bigger buy-ins. Usually, high entry fees mean that an event will have stricter fields as players try to reach a big payout. But, that didn’t seem to restrict players from joining the event.

It is even commendable that players continued to join despite high entry fees while other series, including the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) Series hosted by PokerStars and GGPoker was still ongoing. GGSF took the second-biggest slot in the online poker series. Thus, with WPTDS getting over $1 million guarantees the same week as these other series were running, it was a big success.

888poker Is Not Slowing Down

The first quarter of 2021 has been good to 888. In April, the brand has hosted three poker series, the latest being the WPTDS. The highlight of the event was the Main Event on Day 2, which ran for seven hours. Five of those hours were streamed live on the newest 888’s channel twitch.tv and are still available if you want to watch.

Along the live stream, David Tuchman, Matt Savage, and Nick Wealthall provided commentary and in-depth analysis of various events.

Other events that took place in April include the Italian and Iberian online poker festivals, which ran concurrently. The festivals were used to roll out and promote poker 8 software that was launched a month earlier in Italy and Iberian. All three April festivals generated over $3,000,000.
