Alex Outhred Uses CSOP St. Jude Against All Odds to Win a 2022 WSOP Main Event Seat

Daniel Negreanu helped in founding “St. Jude Against All Odds” in 2014. It is an annual poker event that attracts players from different countries. This year’s event took place in partnership with the Charity Series of Poker (CSOP) on May 20 and 21 at Red Rock Casino in Las Vegas.

The golf-poker enterprise raised $400,319 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and increased the charity event’s total fundraising to more than $2.3 million. The 2020 St. Jude Against All Odds featured several poker pros like Negreanu, Kevin Gerhart, William Hung, Joey Ingram, Joe “Stapes” Stapleton, and Anthony Zinno.

Stout informed PokerNews that the committee was concerned about the event’s success before it began. It got $359,000 in 2019. Yet, it didn’t get $50,000 from private donors and $60,000 from sponsors this year.

The poker community and St. Jude’s collaboration during the event helped the committee increase its revenue from $70,000 before the event to $400,000 thus making Stout shed tears. His two-year-old grandnephew succumbed to cancer two years ago and he is deeply touched by how St. Jude impacts other people’s lives. He thanked sponsors and the community for supporting the CSOP.

Action in the Annual Event

Alex Outhred beat all his opponents in the 2022 St. Jude Against All Odds and qualified for the 2022 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event. The victory increased his lifetime poker earnings to over $625,000 since 2004 based on The Hendon Mob’s latest statistics.

The event’s officials are searching for talented players who will mark its calendar as they have released next year’s event’s dates. It will run from September 7 to September 9, 2023.

The CSOP will hold its next Event No. 38 “Full Houses of Good” at the Moon Nightclub at Palms Casino, Las Vegas on July 3 to help Three Square Food. It will have a reception at 4:30 p.m. and a charity poker tournament from 6 p.m.

The reception and tournament will cost guests $300 including add-ons and $100 rebuys. They can pay $100 to join its reception.

How Outhred Felt After Winning the 2022 CSOP St. Jude Against All Odds

The poker pro was overjoyed when the river hit as the odds were against him. He was amazed to advance to the event’s final table and had a chip lead for some time. Also, his confidence and wise decisions played a key role in his victory.

Outhred won after a successful Gala evening during which the event’s committee raised a huge sum of money for families and children battling cancer. His mother battled the disease for four years but succumbed to it 20 years ago.

His personal experience with the disease influenced him to dedicate his victory to his late mother and other cancer patients. He stated that most hands in the event were fun to play with as the room was vibrant.

Donors and stars occupied each seat but his most memorable hand was a double knockout that shipped the tournament. He hoped for it when he used average aces to call short-stack and 5 big blinds shoved as he held pocket fives. Outhred held when a flush draw appeared after a fives flop.
