Adam Ross won World Series of Poker Circuit Main Event this season and the first thing that he announced was that he was not going to pay the mortgage anymore. There were a total of 1,056 entrants to this event which is held in Harrah’s Cherokee located in Western North Carolina.

Adam Ross won a total of $295,970 which is the biggest win for him so far. For comparison, all his previous wins in poker in total are $70,000 which means that this is a significant jump for this player who was obviously more than happy to have won one such tournament.
But his way to victory was not easy, especially because he had to face Ryan Phan in the heads-up. Phan is currently considered one of the best players that are on the American circuit. Phan also had recently won a six-figure sum after finishing on the eleventh place in the World Series of Poker Main Event where he won a total of $725,000.
108 players are paid out from the 1,056 entrants and some of the big players who managed to make it to the money list but did not make it to the final day are Josh Reichard, Maurice Hawkins, Sean Yu, JJ Liu, Dylan Wilkerson, Scott Steward, and Jared Jaffee.
Only 21 players returned on the third day and Ross’ opponent Phan was the person with the biggest stack at the beginning of this part of the tournament. He even managed to get even bigger stack when he flopped trip jacks with jack-ten in his hand against the jack-nine that one of his remaining opponents in this round had.
Ross also had one extraordinary hand while he was playing the most important tournament of his life. He had nines while his opponent Irene Carey had ace-king. This ensured him a certain way to the final table.
The most important part of the final table was the heads up between Ross and Phan. Phan had an early control and managed to gain 3-1 chip lead. However, Ross played it all cool until he managed to even the things out. One of the interesting hands was when there were 8, 7, and 4 of hearts on the flop, and Ross managed to land a straight against Phan’s middle two pair.
When he gained the lead, Ross would not let go and he started playing a bit more aggressively. He even managed to see through 2 of Phan’s bluffs and this is what eventually cost Phan his victory.
It was the second time that Phan finished second in this tournament. The first time was against Hawkings in 2016, when the tournament was held at Council Bluffs, where Phan was basically the host of the tournament. He managed to earn $182,990 from this tournament.
Some other players from the final table are Raveesh Asnani, Todd Mercer, Andrew Kelsall, Matthew Ernst, Tyler Payne, Charles Johnson, and Justin Adams.
