The online casino industry in the United States is one that continues to grow, and the state of Rhode Island is now in the mix. Online casino gaming in the state of Rhode Island officially launched on March 5th, after a successful soft launch that began on March 1.
It was not a surprise that Rhode Island was able to join the online casino gaming industry, but the launch happened later than some would have hoped. While most states with online casino gambling will have many options available, that’s not going to be the case in Rhode Island.
There are now seven states with legal online casinos in the United States, and a majority of them are in the Northeast part of the United States. New Jersey and Pennsylvania are among the largest in the country, but that title currently belongs to Michigan.
The legal online gambling age in Rhode Island is set at 21 years of age, and all of the betting most be done in the state. Full registration is now available, and anyone in the state is encouraged to sign up and join the growing industry.

Rhode Island has just one online sports betting option, and it’s going to use the same format when it comes to online casino gambling. Bally’s was able to earn the one available license in the state, and it is now officially open for business.

Rhode Island is not a state with a large gambling industry, but the lawmakers in the state are looking to be progressive.

Rhode Island launched online casino gaming as a way to generate new revenue for the state, and other states are looking to do the same thing. New York lawmakers are hoping to get this industry legalized, but things haven’t gone smoothly up to this point.
Not only is Bally’s going to generate between 50 and 75 new jobs in the state, at least 15% of revenue will be given back to the state. Illinois is another state where lawmakers are looking to legalize this industry, but things haven’t gone well.
Other smaller states will be looking at the success in Rhode Island to begin discussions about bringing this industry in.
