M Resort in Henderson is planning to construct a second $206 million tower on its property. Penn Entertainment revealed that the tower will increase the gaming site’s capacity by 391 rooms, or more than twice its current suites and rooms portfolio.
The expansion project will increase updated amenities, larger meeting space, and local partnerships that the gaming company will disclose later. Hussain Mahrous, M Resort Henderson’s General Manager and Vice President, stated that everything they have done of late is to grow and expand the property to improve its customer experience.
Jay Snowden, Penn Entertainment CEO, stated in an interview that M Resort’s new tower will get huge support from Henderson’s wide market as it offers extra capacity for group businesses that are drawn to high-end amenities and resorts, including their collaboration with the Las Vegas Raiders.
$850 Million Development Projects
The M Resort in Henderson’s $206 million tower is one of the $850 million development projects that Penn Entertainment announced a few days ago. It plans to kick off its construction in 2023.
The umbrella project will include developing an extra hotel tower at the Hollywood Columbus property. The development will comprise adding another 180 rooms, and new beverage and food options.
The gaming company will attach the hotel to the Columbus property, and it will create 100 extra permanent jobs. But, the project needs to get approved first.
Penn Entertainment also proposes to transform Hollywood Aurora and Joliet casinos into land-based casinos. It intends to shift the Aurora casino near Exit 199 of Interstate 88 in Aurora, near the Chicago Premium Outlets mall. The project will cost about $360 million and feature 50 live table games, 900 slot machines, a Barstool bookie, a poker room, and a baccarat room.
The Joliet casino will partly form the Rock Run Crossings project near the Interstate 55 and 80 interchange. It will cost $185 million and feature a Barstool sportsbook, 45 live table games,a baccarat room, and 800 slot machines. Also, it will have bars, restaurants, an events space, and 10,000 square feet of meeting place.
More Details About the M Resort
The M Resort announced on October 17 that it is planning to build another hotel tower in Henderson. It is 8 miles off the Vegas Strip, and it was named after the Marnell family, its first owners.
Anthony Marnell III proposed the casino in 2005 and launched it in 2009 during the Great Recession. Penn Entertainment, initially called Penn National Gaming, bought the property for $860 million in 2010 through debt and started managing the casino a year later.
The property has a 92,000 square feet casino with 54 table games and more than 1,800 slot machines. Still, it has a retail bookie and a Poker Room.
The M Resort hosted the Hollywood Poker Open in 2013, Penn Entertainment’s annual event. Even so, the poker room shut down after a few months and transformed into a slot tournament venue.
