The WSOP Online Main Event Kicked Off!

The time has come to witness poker history as it unfolds! The most popular poker festival in the world — the World Series of Poker — has taken place on the web this summer due to the coronavirus pandemic. Some of the best live poker players in the world decided to make their online accounts for the first time and take part in an exciting new way to play poker.

There were plenty of events taking place on WSOP.com and GGPoker, but the one we’ve been all waiting for was the WSOP Online Main Event that started on August 16, at 7 pm GMT. What sets this event apart is the amazing guaranteed prize that it offers — a total of $25,000,000. Therefore, the most successful player in this event will have an opportunity to seize the lion’s share of the prize pool and win a huge amount of money.

Fasten Your Seatbelts for 22 Flights

Huge guaranteed prizes are usually offered when many players are expected to buy their way into the tournament. If you host the main event of the most popular poker competition in the world, you’re bound to expect thousands of players to register and test their poker skills and luck. That’s the main reason why the tournament organizers prepared a total of 22 flights that will all take place at a different time so as to give everyone a shot.

Moreover, every player will have a total of three bullets to fire when they take part in the main event. The only rule they’ll have to adhere to is that they will not be able to apply for the same flight. If you fire all three bullets, you will not be able to buy your way back in anymore.

Every flight will play for a total of 15 levels. Once all flights play out, Day 2 will start, as the most successful players from their respective flights will have an opportunity to continue playing for higher stakes and against tougher opponents.

Almost all flights will have 30-minute levels, apart from Flights U and V that will offer a faster version with 20-minute levels. Finally, late registration will be allowed for ten levels in total, meaning you’ll have approximately 300 minutes to enter the tournament for flights A-T and 200 minutes for flights U and V.

Every day, starting August 16, one daily starting flight will take place at 7 pm GMT. This will go on until August 23, when another starting flight will be added at 2 pm. The last two of them will take place on August 30, starting at 11 am and 1 pm. After that, the stage will be set for Day 2 to commence.

Day 2 will start immediately on August 30 and will last until the final 40 are reached. The 40 best players will then return on September 5 to play for the biggest share of the $25 million guaranteed prize pool.
