The 2016 World Series of Poker Main Event has finally played down to the November Nine. Late Monday the 10th position was claimed by Josh Weiss, with the remaining nine players celebrating having made the final table. The November Nine will now have to wait a few months before coming back to the Rio to compete for the top prize and the main event gold bracelet.
Going out in 10th place was Josh Weiss who was low on chips by ten-handed play. With only a few blinds to his chip stack, it would not be long before Weiss was eliminated and the final table set. The Main Event was a success with a total prize pool of $63,327,800 created, of which $8 million will go to the first place finisher.
The playing field was quite impressive for the Main Event, with 6,737 players competing. 1,011 would earn a payday for participating. The final nine will each earn a seven figure cash prize for making it to the final table.
Taking the top spot in chips for the final table is Cliff Josephy of New York, with 75,000,000. Josephy is a seasoned pro with more than $2.6 million lifetime earnings. Second in chips is Qui Nguyen, a gambler from Las Vegas who has 68,075,000 chips for the final table.
Third in chips with 50,450,000 is Gordon Vayo of California. The poker player has earned almost $1 million from game play during his career. Kenny Hallaert has the fourth spot in chip count, with 43,325,000, hailing from Belgium. Hallaert has earned just over $1.7 million in lifetime earnings.
Fifth in chips is Michael Ruane of New Jersey with 29,800,000, with the sixth spot held by Vojtech Ruzicka with 27,450,000, a player from the Czech Republic. The seventh spot goes to Griffen Benger of Ontario with 26,175,000 followed by Jerry Wong of New York with 10,325,000 in the eighth spot and Fernando Pons with 6,225,000 in the ninth chip position.
