Christopher Sand Wins WSOP Casino Employee Event

wsopTo begin each and every World Series of Poker, a casino employee event is held. The 2016 series is no different, with the Rio seeing Event #1 kicking off this week to honor those who help the gaming industry operate. The event had 731 players competing, each paying the $565 in the hopes of earning the first place title win.

It took two days for the event to finish up, with the first place cash prize of $75,157 and the gold bracelet going to Christopher Sand, an employee of the sports book at Caesars Palace of Nevada. The poker player has competed in WSOP events in the past, earning his first cash out last year when he took part in the Colossus event. He now has a gold bracelet thanks to the employee event win!

Sand stated that he first learned how to play the game of poker from his mom and he is blessed. Sand commented that the bracelet is for his mom who is watching over him in heaven.

The final table of the event consisted of nine players with Sand able to stay afloat and defeat Kerryjane Craigie in heads up play to claim the win. Craigie would be defeated when his pocket sevens could not stand up against Sands pocket kings.
