Mets Beginning to “Sell”

The New York Mets got off to a hot start in 2018, but things have gone south in a hurry for them. The Mets appear to be ready to start the rebuild process, and traded closer, Jeurys Familia, to the Oakland Athletics on Saturday. The Mets will have to decide if they are going to part with pitchers, Noah Syndergaard or Jacob DeGrom, before the trade deadline as well.

Jacob DeGrom will get the opportunity to audition for potential teams on Sunday night. DeGrom comes in with a terrific 1.68 earned run average, but is just 5-4 on the season. The Mets have struggled to score all season long, and it has hurt DeGrom in a number of his starts this season. The Mets recently activated, Yoenis Cespedes, which should improve their offense.

Yankees Bullpen Continues to Shine

The Yankees offense gets most of the media attention, but the Yankees bullpen has been a huge strength for them this season. Closer Aroldis Chapman has recorded 26 saves for the Yanks this season, but his status for Sunday night is unknown due to injury. New York will turn to the hard throwing duo of Dellin Betances and David Robertson to close out games until Chapman is able to return.

Rookie infielder, Gleyber Torres, has provided a huge spark to the Yankees this season. The former Chicago Cubs top prospect has belted 15 homers for the Yankees, and was named to the American League All-Star team. Torres joins a very potent lineup with Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge continuing to hit home runs at a historic rate. The Yankees will have a tough matchup against DeGrom on Sunday night.

Tanaka, Yankees Win

Jacob DeGrom could be potentially pitching in his final game for the Mets on Sunday night. Nearly every team in playoff contention would love to add DeGrom to their rotation for a deep playoff run. The Mets need to try to find a way to score some runs in support of DeGrom on Sunday night.

Masahiro Tanaka will be making the start for the Yankees in the series finale. The veteran comes into the game with a 7-2 record for the Yankees. Look for Tanaka to give the Yankees a quality start on Sunday night, and the bullpen will close out the game for a Yankees win. Bet the New York Yankees -160 against the Mets in the series finale.
