In the ReliaQuest Bowl on New Year’s Day, the Wisconsin Badgers are on the road at the LSU Tigers. This game is played at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. This is the first meeting between these two teams where the Badgers beat the Tigers 16-14 back in 2016.

The Wisconsin Badgers are 7-5 coming into this game. The Badgers finished third in the Big Ten West. Wisconsin won their final two games of the season, beating Minnesota in the season finale.

For the LSU Tigers, they finished third in the SEC West. LSU went 9-3 on the season. The final game of the season was a win over Texas A+M. The win was their third straight for Brian Kelly’s squad.

The LSU Tigers are -10 over Wisconsin on New Year’s Day. The total for this game is listed at 55.5 points.

Defensive Badgers

The Wisconsin Badgers are more of a defensive team than they are an offensive team. That is for sure. The Badgers team defense was actually one of the best in all of College Football, as they allowed just 18.9 points per game. On the offensive side, they scored just 22.8 points per game.

The Badgers on offense will be without both their top two running backs. Braelon Allen will sit in this game as he will enter the NFL Draft. Allen rushed 181 times for 984 yards and 12 touchdowns. Chez Mellusi was hurt midseason, and also will not play in this game for the Badgers.

Wisconsin will see Tanner Mordecai under center. The signal caller threw for just six touchdowns on the season. Two of those game in the road win at Minnesota to finish the season. Will Pauling was the top target in the game, with 66 receptions, 694 yards and 4 touchdowns on the season.

Offensive Tigers

Speaking of guys missing action, Jayden Daniels, the 2023 Heisman Trophy award winner will also not play in this game. Daniels will also enter the NFL Draft, and get ready. Daniels was terrific with 40 passing touchdowns, and just 4 interceptions on the season. It appears Garrett Nussmeier will get the start under center.

The Tigers will still have their two top weapons in the passing game. Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas are both expected to play in this one. They both finished over 1,000 yards this season. Thomas had 15 touchdowns, while Nabers had 14 on the season.

LSU saw Daniels lead the rushing attack most of the season. The signal caller rushed 135 times for 1,134 yards and 10 touchdowns. The top running back in the offense was Logan Diggs. The Tigers expect to use Diggs a little more than in the season finale, where he had just five against Texas A+M. Diggs finished with 7 rushing touchdowns.

Tigers Smoke Badgers

We are expecting quite the battle in this game on New Year’s Day. The folks in Tampa are going to get a good game. The defense of the Badgers against the offense of the Tigers. Without Daniels, the Tigers offense will look different. But, Brian Kelly got a month to prepare, and still has a ton of weapons on that side of the ball. Do not be scared of the new quarterback here.

The LSU Tigers are going to win this game, and relatively easy. The Tigers win this game by 15. The bet to make in this game is the LSU Tigers -10 over the Wisconsin Badgers. Enjoy the game and best of luck with all your College Football betting!
