Pittsburgh Steelers at Buffalo Bills Betting Preview – Wild Card

It’s the first game of a tripleheader of action on Sunday in the National Football League. The Pittsburgh Steelers are on the road at the Buffalo Bills. The winner of this game heads to the divisional round of the NFL Playoffs.

The Pittsburgh Steelers needed to win their final three games of the season, and still needed help to get into the postseason. Pittsburgh is 10-7, and finished third in the AFC North. The Steelers beat the Ravens in Week 18 by a score of 17-10.

The Buffalo Bills are also red hot. The Bills, who were 6-6 at one point this season won their final five games, and won the AFC East. Buffalo, at 11-6, swept the Miami Dolphins to gain the tiebreaker for the divisional title. The Bills beat the Dolphins 21-14 in Week 18.

The Buffalo Bills are big favorites here. The Bills are listed at -10 over the Steelers on Sunday.

Allen Looking for Super Bowl

Josh Allen and his Buffalo Bills have been strong at home this season, with 7 wins in 9 games. The Bills are also 7-5 against AFC foes this season. The Bills were one of the top offensive teams in the league with 451 points scored. The defense was also strong, allowing 311 points, which was third fewest to Baltimore and Kansas City.

Allen once again saw Stefon Diggs as his top target. Diggs caught 107 passes on the season for nearly 1,200 yards and 8 touchdowns, Allen finished the regular season with 4,306 yards and 29 touchdowns. The Bills may be without receiver Gabe Davis in this game, as he hurt his knee in the Week 18 win.

Buffalo will use James Cook early and often. The top running back for the Bills has rushed 70 times over the last four games and come away with over 310 yards on the ground. Cook has also become a strong weapon in the passing game.

Tomlin Up to Old Tricks

There could be a multitude of reasons the Pittsburgh Steelers are back in the postseason. But, the main reason is head coach Mike Tomlin. Tomlin continues to provide leadership, and guidance to have his team ready to play and compete. The Steelers were dead to rights three weeks ago, yet here they are in the postseason.

Najee Harris was a workhorse in the win over Baltimore, carrying the football 26 times. Harris has 53 carries over his last two games, and three touchdowns on the ground. While Harris is questionable in this game with a knee injury, it is likely he will play. Jaylen Warren has been next for Pittsburgh, with 149 carries.

The Steelers boast two receivers that can cause damage. Dionte Johnson and George Pickens are both very reliable and tough. Pickens did not have a target last week against the Ravens, but led the team with more than 1,100 yards receiving.

Buffalo Blows by Pittsburgh

Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills had to scratch and claw to get to where they are. If you tell us after Week 13 that the Bills would be the 2 seed, and host a playoff game, we would say you are crazy. Here we are, and Buffalo is playing great football.

We like Allen and Diggs to get things going a little here, and James Cook to be a difference maker. Buffalo will need to slow down Najee Harris, and get after Mason Rudolph. We think they can. Our final betting pick for this game is the Buffalo Bills -10 over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.
