NFL Preseason Football: Dallas Cowboys vs. Arizona Cardinals

The Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals will wrap up the week three preseason slate on Sunday night at AT&T Stadium. Both the Cowboys and Cardinals are hoping to improve in 2018 after failing to make the NFC playoffs last season. Neither team is giving up much information about the availability of their starters in this game.

The Cowboys are still looking for their first win this season after losing to both the Cincinnati and San Francisco 49ers. The Arizona Cardinals are 2-0 so far in the preseason, picking up victories over the New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Chargers. The Cardinals are -2.5 point road favorites on Sunday night.

Cowboys Banged Up Offensive Line

The Dallas Cowboys have struggled to keep offensive linemen healthy throughout training camp, and it might affect their regular season. Veteran center Travis Frederick is out indefinitely after being diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome. The disease attacks the nerves in Frederick’s body, and he has been hospitalized. Fellow offensive linemen La’el Collins and Zack Martin will both be out for this game, but should be back in time for the regular season opener.

The absence of three offensive linemen is likely to keep the Cowboys offensive stars out of this game. Head coach Jason Garrett has not made a firm decision, but it is unlikely that Dak Prescott or Ezekiel Elliott will suit up for this game. The Cowboys will struggle to score points against the Cardinals on Sunday night.

Cardinals Have a QB Battle

The Arizona Cardinals appear to have a good problem at quarterback; they have two guys who can start. Both Sam Bradford and rookie Josh Rosen have been impressive under center this preseason for the Cardinals. Bradford is expected to start on Sunday night, but it is unclear if Rosen will see any playing time after suffering a minor hand injury. Either way, the Cardinals appear to have great depth at the QB position.

David Johnson has returned from a wrist injury that caused him to miss all but one game last season. Johnson has emerged as one of the top running backs in the game, and should get plenty of touches in 2018. The Cardinals defense has been the big surprise in the first two preseason games. Arizona has forced seven turnovers, while putting tons of pressure on opposing quarterbacks.

Cardinals Win With Defense

Both the Cardinals and Cowboys should be playoff contenders in 2018, but Dallas has struggled in the preseason. The Cowboys know that their main goal is getting players healthy for the season opener, and are willing to hold players out in order to do that. The lack of offensive linemen and playmakers will hurt the Cowboys chances in a big way in this game.

The Arizona Cardinals could feature one of the best offenses in the NFL this season. Look for the offense to be on display in this game as they give their starting unit their final tuneup for the regular season. The Cardinals will go into Dallas and win by more than a touchdown. Bet the Cardinals -2.5 over the Cowboys.
