The New York Knicks will host the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday for what’s expected to be one of the best NBA games of the night. This has been the most entertaining series by far to start the NBA Playoffs, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see that stay the same.
New York was able to win Game 1 of the series in Cleveland, while the Cavaliers bounced back with nearly a 20-point victory in Game 2. Cleveland will now have to travel to New York for Game 3 and play at Madison Square Garden.
Madison Square Garden is going to be rocking for the Knicks as they try to do something that many people weren’t expecting them to do coming into the season. Although now people believe that they do have a chance of winning the series, a lot of fans doubted New York coming into the 2022-23 season.
The Knicks are currently 2-point favorites on the spread, -130 on the moneyline, and there’s a point total of 211.5
Can the Knicks Protect Home Court?
Although the Knicks did lose Game 2 of this series, and that could have been a huge chance for them, they did exactly what they needed to do away from their home court. They needed to win one game against Cleveland and they found a way to do exactly that, and they did so in a commanding fashion.
The Cavaliers hit them in the mouth a few times in Game 1, but New York kept responding and was able to come away with a 4-point win. If they can find a way to continue trading buckets with guys like Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland, and their defense can continue showing up, New York has a real opportunity of winning the series.
If they let Cleveland come in and win both of these games on their home court, this series is all but over. New York has to realize that at this point, and if they win this game, they should be sitting in a very good position.
This seems to be one of those series that’s going to go seven, but either way, this Game 3 might be the biggest out of the entire series. If the Knicks can find a way to win this game, they will be in a much better position than they could’ve ever hoped for coming into the series.
Will Cleveland Win at MSG?
Cleveland has played well throughout the entire season, but some have thought that they might have a disappointing postseason. Although that doesn’t look to be the case at the moment, their Game 1 loss against Knicks did have some flaws in it. However, they came back out in Game 2 and showed everybody why they have a legitimate chance of making some noise in the Eastern Conference this season.
They need to continue defending at a high level, and Donovan Mitchell needs to continue being one of the best players in basketball if they want to win this series. Game 3 is typically the biggest game of the series in terms of who’s going to win if it’s tied 1-1, so expect him to come out and do everything he possibly can.

This game is going to be interesting, but taking the Knicks -2 doesn’t seem like a bad idea here. The Knicks have played well on their home court in the second half of the season and should be able to find a way to at least win this game outright.
