The Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers are set to play the second game of a three-game series on Tuesday night. At home, the Dodgers are favored with a moneyline of -145, while Milwaukee’s moneyline is listed at +125. The game also has an over/under of seven runs.
The Brewers took Monday’s series opener, giving them three wins in five games against the Dodgers this season. However, the Brew Crew has had a sluggish August overall, going 8-11. That has dropped the Brewers five games behind the Cardinals in the NL Central and 1.5 games out of a Wild Card spot.
As for the Dodgers, they put together a 12-game winning streak during the first half of August. Cy Young candidate Tony Gonsolin will get the start on Tuesday, with the Dodgers hoping to bounce back from Monday’s loss. In 22 starts this year, Gonsolin is 15-1 with a 2.212 ERA and a 0.86 WHIP. Gonsolin has been the winning pitcher in four straight starts, including his last start when he tossed seven scoreless innings against the Brewers.
Of course, the Los Angeles lineup will have to bounce back after getting shut out on Monday. It was the second time the Dodgers have been shut out in their last nine games, averaging a modest 3.6 runs per game during that stretch. While nobody is in a deep slump, most of the key hitters in the LA lineup have cooled off recently, even the likes of Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts, and Trea Turner.
Feel the Burn
Reigning Cy Young winner Corbin Burnes will start for the Brewers, who are hoping to string some wins together. Over 24 starts this year, Burnes is 9-5 with a 2.48 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP, putting him in Cy Young contention again. He also got a win in his last start against the Dodgers despite giving up three runs over 5.2 innings.
Fortunately for the Brew Crew, they have started to get going offensively, especially with 14 home runs in the team’s last seven games. The Brewers have scored at least four runs in six of their last seven games, averaging 4.6 runs per game over those seven games. Of course, everyday players like Andrew McCutcheon, Kolten Wong, and Rowdy Tellez are deep in slumps, with Christian Yelich and Keston Huira hoping to keep the Milwaukee lineup afloat.

The Dodgers haven’t been clicking lately, although losing two in a row at home is still an unlikely event. Plus, they’ve only lost four of the 22 games started by Gonsolin this season, giving them a leg up, even against Burnes.
