Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Chicago White Sox Betting Preview

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox are set to continue their interleague series on Wednesday night. The White Sox won the series opener on Tuesday, although the Dodgers are favored on Wednesday with a moneyline of -185 compared to Chicago’s moneyline of +155. The game also has an over/under of 8.5 runs.

With Tuesday’s loss, the Dodgers lost their third straight game, giving them two three-game losing streaks in a little over a week. One of the best teams in baseball is now 2-6 over its last eight games. As a result, the Dodgers are only 1.5 games ahead of the Padres in the NL West.

Meanwhile, Tuesday’s victory has given the White Sox a three-game winning streak. The only caveat is that the winning streak came after losing seven of nine games. Nevertheless, Chicago is just one game under .500 and second in the AL Central, four games behind the Twins.

Here’s Johnny

Veteran Johnny Cueto is set to make his fifth start of the season on Wednesday. While he’s still searching for his first win of 2022, Cueto has pitched to a 2.92 ERA over his first four starts. Somehow, Cueto already looks in mid-season form, pitching at least six innings in all four of his starts, giving the White Sox a lot of quality innings.

Offensively, the White Sox are finding a way to get by with Tim Anderson and Eloy Jimenez still on the IL. While the Chicago lineup isn’t clicking on all cylinders right now, the White Sox have scored at least three runs in eight straight games and 15 of their last 16 games, so they’re finding ways to scratch out a few runs every day. Jose Abreu has recently taken ownership of the lineup, while Jake Burger and Danny Mendick are making surprise contributions to the Chicago lineup.

Tony the Tiger

The Dodgers will look to Tony Gonsolin to help them stop their losing streak at three games. Gonsolin has been the ace of the Los Angeles rotation thus far, going 6-0 with a 1.59 ERA over his first 10 starts of 2022. He’s yet to allow more than two runs in any of his starts this year, with the Dodgers going 7-3 when he’s on the mound.

Meanwhile, the LA lineup has slumped just a little lately, scoring four runs or less in eight of the team’s last 10 games. To date, Mookie Betts, Trea Turner, and Freddie Freeman are the only Dodgers who have had standout seasons, and Freeman is yet to produce the type of power the Dodgers expected. The first baseman has also fallen into a slump lately, forcing Betts and Turner to carry the lineup.

Stay Low

With both starting pitchers in good form and both lineups a little sluggish lately, the under on 8.5 runs might be the best bet in this game. After a 4-0 win White Sox win on Tuesday, it’s not hard to envision one of these teams being held to two runs or less on Wednesday.

Of course, the Dodgers are still the safe bet to win the game straight up despite their recent slump, although their moneyline doesn’t provide much value given their struggles.
