It’s time for the 2017 World Series. This should be a great World Series, with games in two cities that will see nice, warm weather. The Houston Astros will take on the Los Angeles Dodgers, as the series starts on Tuesday. The road team – Houston Astros came into the postseason with 101 wins during the regular season. Houston took care of Boston in 4 games, and then went the distance to eliminate the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series.
The Los Angeles Dodgers were the best team in Major League Baseball for most of the regular season. The Dodgers finished with the best record in the league, as they won 104 games. Los Angeles whipped the Arizona Diamondbacks in three straight, and then smacked the Cubs in 5 games to get to the World Series. The Los Angeles Dodgers are -165 over the Houston Astros in Game 1 of the World Series.
Dodgers Using Kershaw
The Los Angeles Dodgers get to use their lefthanded star pitcher Clayton Kershaw in this game. The multiple winner of the Cy Young award won 18 regular season games. During the postseason, Kershaw is 2-0, with a no decision. In Game 5, Kershaw allowed just a solo homerun in keeping the Cubs to just a single run.
In the postseason, the Dodgers have seen several guys on the offensive side come through. Kike Hernandez was the big star in Game 5, as he belted three homeruns at Wrigley. Los Angeles during the postseason has outscored opponents 48-19 in their 8 games.
Houston Countering with Keuchel
The Dodgers are not the only team with a stud lefthander on the mound. Dallas Keuchel is throwing for the Houston Astros. He is 2-1 in the postseason, with his lone loss coming in the ALCS to the Yankees in Game 5. During the regular season, Keuchel went 14-5 with a 2.90 earned run average. He struck out 125 batters, and walked just 47.
The Astros offense has all sorts of guys that have been fantastic. The main cog in the lineup is American League batting champion Jose Altuve. The middle infielder hit .347 on the season. In the postseason, he has 16 hits in 40 at bats, with 40 of them leaving the ball park. Yuli Gurriel ahs been strong in the lineup for Houston as well, with a .366 batting average.
Kershaw Downs Keuchel
The Houston Astros offense is good, but ace pitchers can slow them down. Clayton Kershaw is that guy. Even if the game gets to the bullpen, the Dodgers bullpen is outstanding. Look for this game to come down to bullpens, and the Los Angeles Dodgers get the job done at home. Keuchel throws a good game, but comes up short in Game 1. The final bet for this game on Tuesday is the Los Angeles Dodgers -165 over the Houston Astros.
