Dallas Stars at St. Louis Blues Betting Preview

The St. Louis Blues missed out on a great chance of taking a commanding 3-1 series lead in their Game 4 loss to the Dallas Stars. The Blues will now return home for Game 5, which is a critical game for both teams. Dallas has already shown the ability to win a game on the road in this series, coming away with a 4-2 victory in Game 2 of the series.

St. Louis and Dallas both pulled off first-round upsets in the NHL Playoffs, and are now just two wins away from the Western Conference Finals. The Blues were able to finish off the Winnipeg Jets in six games, and Dallas was able to knock off top-seeded Nashville in six games. These two teams play a very similar style of hockey, and all four games in this series have been extremely competitive. St. Louis is -145 over the Dallas Stars in Game 5 of the series.

Bishop Leading the Way For Dallas

Dallas allowed the second fewest goals per game during the regular season, and goaltender Ben Bishop was a big reason why. Bishop was originally drafted by the St. Louis Blues, and there is no doubt that revenge is on his mind in this series. The veteran made 27 saves in the Game 4 victory and is stopping 93 percent of the shots that he faces in the playoffs.

The Stars were able to score a pair of first-period goals in Game 4, and it propelled them to a series-tying victory. Dallas managed just 31 shots on goal in that game, but four of them were able to find the back of the net. Alexander Radulov and Roope Hintz have each scored five goals in these playoffs to lead the team.

Tarasenko, Schwartz Must Score For Blues

If the Blues are going to win this critical Game 5, then their two biggest stars must show up. Vladimir Tarasenko and Jaden Schwartz have combined for 11 goals already this postseason, and they are the clear leaders of the Blues offense. Tarasenko was able to score on the power-play in Game 4, and he is capable of scoring a goal on every shift. The Blues struggle to find offense at times, but their leaders must lead the way in this game.

Jordan Binnington has made all 10 starts in net for the Blues after having a terrific rookie campaign during the regular season. Binnington has had some rough games throughout the postseason, and Game 4 was one of them. The rookie was able to stop just 27 of 31 shots on goal, and he must be much better to give his team a chance in this game.

Blues Win Critical Game 5

All four games in this series have been extremely tight throughout, and that should be the case again in Game 5. These two teams just don’t score enough to pull away from their opponent. Look for another low-scoring game, but the Blues are going to find just enough offense to win this game. Bet the St. Louis Blues -145 over the Dallas Stars in Game 5 of the series.
