Cleveland Browns vs Atlanta Falcons Betting Preview

Cleveland Browns vs Atlanta Falcons Betting Preview

How about a little Sunday Night Football just days before the 2021 NFL Season is set to begin? We don’t mind if we do. The Atlanta Falcons are set to host the Cleveland Browns for the final game of the preseason.

Cleveland has had a fantastic preseason so far, as they come into Sunday’s matchup at 2-0. In Week 2 they were able to stifle Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars and last week they beat the Giants at home.

Atlanta has yet to win a preseason game and this will be their last opportunity to do so. The Titans and Dolphins have both beaten the Falcons by 20 points, putting them at 0-2. They get one more shot to grab a win before starting their regular season at home against the Eagles.

The Browns are favored by a 5.5 point spread heading into Sunday’s action. The game total is set at 36 points with -110 odds on the over and under. Kickoff is set for 8:00 EST on Sunday Night Football on NBC.

Cleveland Browns Betting Preview

Cleveland finished the 2020 season with an 11-5 record, but still ended up in 3rd in the AFC North. To power through the Steelers and Ravens in 2021, they need to improve on both sides of the ball.

The Browns have had 2 quarterbacks not named Baker Mayfield under center in the first 2 games. Kyle Lauletta and Case Keenum have been leading the Browns on offense.

It’s been a close race for backup between the two, but so far we think Lauletta has the slight edge over Keenum.

Here in the final week of the preseason, one or the other should lock up the backup QB position. If Lauletta has another outing similar to his first two, the position should be his to lose.

Atlanta Falcons Betting Preview

What is there to say about the Atlanta Falcons? Well, they aren’t very good. They haven’t been very good in the preseason, and we don’t foresee that changing in the regular season.

The Falcons were absolutely torched by the Dolphins last week by a score of 37-17. Atlanta hasn’t been able to move the ball very well all preseason.

Their backup quarterbacks, A.J. McCarron and Feleipe Franks have yet to throw a touchdown and both have a completion percentage under 50%.

If Atlanta wants to pick up a win, they are going to need their defense to do the bulk of the heavy lifting. A defense that hasn’t looked like they can stop anyone so far.

Cleveland Browns vs Atlanta Falcons Pick

Atlanta has lost and failed to cover the point spread in their first two games of the preseason. The Browns have won and covered in their first two.

We don’t expect much to change in the final preseason game of 2021. Cleveland is a better team on both sides of the ball and the Falcons lack depth and talent. Regardless of who is under center in this one, we like the Browns to roll.

Cleveland wins and wins big. They will cover the 5.5 points in a high-scoring affair. Take the Browns -5.5 and over 36 points.
