Chicago Bears at Los Angeles Rams Betting Preview

Chicago Bears at Los Angeles Rams Betting Preview

The first Sunday of the NFL season projects to be a great one. And it will conclude in L.A. with a battle between the Bears and Rams. For each side, there will be a QB making their first start with the team. But for the Bears, they might be making a huge mistake with their choice.

Rather than go right to Justin Fields, Andy Dalton was their option to begin the year. For whatever reason, Matt Nagy believes he at least deserves a shot, but in primetime, this could get ugly. Dalton isn’t bad by any means, but he is not the future of the team. He isn’t Fields, and his future is nowhere near as bright as that of the rookie. This game will be telling.

For the Rams, the Matthew Stafford era is set to finally begin. They are only a few years removed from Jared Goff, guiding them to a Super Bowl, but the era had its peak, and it is over. Stafford has had so many great years in Detroit but has not won a playoff game. This is the perfect situation for him to extend his career and try and reach another level.

Under the tutelage of Sean McVay, he may unlock other layers in his game.

Betting Odds & Lines

The spread for SNF is set at LAR -7.5. The over/under is 46.5 points. And the CHI moneyline is +305, while the favored Rams are LAR -375.

Bears Seeking Quick Start

It would be very surprising to see a great Bears performance. Mitchell Trubisky or not, the team has just been such a letdown in the Matt Nagy era. For one year, they did a lot of winning. But they went out quickly in the playoffs. Last year, they barely snuck in but never had a chance against the Saints. They finished just over .500.

This is a team that only beat the bad teams. So, playing the Rams is actually a good test. With Dalton under center, though, Justin Fields is just going to have to continue to wait. Look for David Montgomery to get a lot of carries in the opener.

And look for Allen Robinson to have a big night, even against Jalen Ramsey.

Rams Aim for 1-0

The Stafford era begins, and Rams fans should be thrilled. The fact that they nearly won a Super Bowl with Jared Goff should have them feeling ecstatic that they have a stellar signal-caller now. Stafford is a guy who can take the team’s guys and elevate them further.

Darrell Henderson won the RB job by the season’s end in 2020 and will get plenty of touches from the get-go now. They also brought in former Patriots RB Sony Michel, who figures to add some nice value as a second back. And as long as they remain at full strength, they will be a tough out week to week.

Rams Win

The Bears will come out flat, and it will ultimately cost them a Week 1 win. L.A. is off to the quick start.
