Brooklyn Nets vs Washington Wizards Betting Preview

On paper, both the Nets and Wizards have exceptional backcourts. The issue with Washington is that the chemistry is still lacking, and while Russell Westbrook is putting up great numbers, his effectiveness has tailed off tremendously. And the team around him and Bradley Beal is just not very good while the forward is in health and safety protocol.

If they want to turn things around this year, Beal may need to start scoring 50 every night. Because the last 10 times he has eclipsed the 40-point mark, the team has lost every time. There is no excuse to be dropping games whenever your star player goes off. And that means that he scored fewer than that in all of the team’s wins. Oh, what a rough time to be associated with the Wizards.

Brooklyn, meanwhile, was in a mini-funk early on and has gone 6-2 with James Harden on the roster since the trade. Both losses, of course, came against the Cleveland Cavaliers last week in successive games. Even with Kevin Durant out against OKC, the team managed to score over 145 points, proving that they can be outstanding. Norvel Pelle and Iman Shumpert are both on their way to bring help.

ODDS:
The spread is in favor of the Brooklyn Nets, -8.5. The over/under is 244.5.

Nets Seek 14th Win

While their opponents come into this one at 3-12, Brooklyn is 13-8 thus far. And side note: The Bucks lost back-to-back games to the Pelicans and Hornets over the weekend, showing that their roster is not as good as most folks expected entering the season. This also means well for the Nets, who look like they’d be able to take them in a series if they can stop the non-Giannis guys.

Brooklyn’s offense has been on another level, with Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Harden all playing fantastic basketball. Each of them seems to blend well with the others, just making shots from here, there, and everywhere. They do lack size in the paint on D, but with this type of offense, it does not currently matter.

Joe Harris and Jeff Green have been the penultimate role players in 2020-21, making plays all over the place.

Wizards Seek to Shock

Nobody outside of Wizards nation will be taking the team even to cover the spread. It’s been a tough season for them, and it doesn’t seem that better days are on the horizon. Their coach is on the hot seat, the losses are piling up, and Bradley Beal trade talks seem to be all over social media every day.

In order for things to get better, perhaps they have to get worse. The losses need to continue, they need to find a coach that preaches defense, and they need to make some moves to put more proven talent on the team.

Thomas Bryant’s ACL injury all but doomed this season. He was an extremely underrated piece to their puzzle that was playing great. Just keep “trying” to win, but know that you’ll lose most nights, this one included.
