Boyd Gaming has entered the sports betting app market in Nevada. The company released the new product on Friday, September 19. Boyd Gaming emailed its BConnected players club members the same day.
Players cannot login to the app using BConnected credentials. Sports bettors must go to one of the company’s sportsbooks to fill out an application in person. This includes giving the company a Social Security Number and a valid ID.
There was a bug with the password reset feature that was discovered on launch day, according to a Boyd Gaming sportsbook supervisor. It delayed wagers for some players by one day. He also told us that the minimum deposit is $50. Bettors must be located within Nevada when placing any wager.
Players must make deposits and withdrawals through the shift supervisor. Ticket writers are unable to process transactions related to the app.
Boyd Gaming sportsbooks that accept applications for the app are Fremont, California, Sam’s Town, Suncoast, Gold Coast and The Orleans. There is no sportsbook located at Main Street Station. An elevated walkway connects it to California’s second floor. This is convenient as the sportsbook at The Cal is also on the second floor.
The Boyd Gaming app has one feature that sets it apart from competitors. Players can view the lines without having to login. All other Nevada sportsbook apps require a login. This makes it easier to line shop without creating an account or having to login first.
There are a couple of annoyances. The app does not work when Wi-Fi is turned on. This means that it will also not work on tablets unless there is a data plan connected to the device. Other Nevada sports apps at least open and allow logins on tablets, although locating becomes a problem because Wi-Fi positioning is not yet used. Hopefully that changes in the future.
This is the fifth sports betting app to enter the Nevada market. Station Casinos, William Hill, NV Sports Books and Cantor Gaming also currently provide this service.
