Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees Betting Preview

The weekend series with the Red Sox and Yankees will conclude on Sunday evening in the Bronx. The teams split the first two contests following the cancellation of the initially scheduled Thursday opener. It has been a bit violent in the stands, but after Sunday, the squads will go back to their regularly prepared games and opponents.

Alex Cora took his team off the field on Saturday evening after a bottle was literally heaved at Alex Verdugo in the outfield. The Yankees fan, per Aaron Boone, should be sentenced to “jail time.” That is no way for anybody to behave, especially after how the NBA Playoffs began with players having things thrown their way pretty often. If fans cannot contain themselves, they could continue to add restrictions.

New York did get the win on Saturday night, one that they totally needed. They took a 3-1 win, and their pitching has surely stepped up. Boston has just five runs in two games. The only issue is that they were shut out on Friday. There is still a lot to be hopeful for in the Bronx, and a win in primetime could continue to help them build their confidence back up.

It would be great if Gerrit Cole could pitch 3-4 times a week like Cy Young once did. But, the times are oh so different now.

Betting Lines: The spread for Sunday is set at NYY -1. The over/under is 9.5 runs.

Sox Seek Series Victory

Boston is sitting pretty at 19 games over .500 at the moment. The wins have piled up for them as the great times have continued to roll. As soon as Cora got reinstated as manager, they turned everything around. The season has been magical for a team hoping to win a fifth title since 2004. After 86 years of nothing, the last few decades have been glorious.

They will be trotting Martin Perez out for the primetime affair. He has posted a 7-5 record with a 4.04 ERA across 18 starts. He has struck out 69 batters while walking 29 in 84 2/3 innings.

The Red Sox have used just six starters this year, as health has been maintained across the entire rotation to date.

Yankees Seek Surprise Series Win

Losing has become part of the mantra for the Yankees this year, unfortunately. But whenever you are hosting the Red Sox and its primetime, you’ll be able to get up for the game. That is what happened Saturday and may well re-occur on Sunday.

Jameson Taillon is going to get the start for the series finale. The 29-year-old former Pirate has posted a 4-4 record with a 4.90 ERA in 17 starts. He has struck out 86 batters while walking 24 across 82 2/3 innings of work. The #2 pick back in the loaded 2010 draft, Taillon is still trying to find his consistent footing.

If he can bring his best stuff, a win is likely.

Yankees Win

The Red Sox will go down again as the Bronx bombers take the win and the series.
