The Barbasol Championship will take place this weekend in Nicholasville, Kentucky as part of the PGA Tour. This is a stroke play event, with more than $3.75M in prize money. Keene Trace Golf Club will be the course for this event. Trey Mullinax is the defending champion coming into this event. Many of the top PGA Tour players do not play in this event, as they head to Europe for the Scottish Open. Despite that, it’s expected to be a fun, and competitive weekend of golf. Let’s take a look at some of the favorites for the event:
Taylor Pendrith +1800
The 32-year-old from Canada has finished in the Top 10 once this season. In his career, over 53 events, he has made the cut 38 times. He has yet to win an event on the tour, so keeping him as a betting favorite is a little bit of a risk. Pendrith is coming into the event in decent form, after finishing tied for 14th at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. His weekend would have been better had it not been for a 73 on the final day. Earlier this season, Pendrith finished inside the Top 30 at the PGA Championship.
Vincent Norrman +2800
The 25-year-old from Sweden is seeking his third Top 10 of the season. He is currently 113th in FedEx Cup Standings. Norrman is another guy looking for his first career win. Finishing 24th at the Rocket Mortgage last week came after missed cuts in Canada, the US Open, and Travelers. His last Top 10 was in May, when he was 8th at the Byron Nelson.
Akshay Bhatia +2800
One of the youngest guys in the event – 21 year old from Los Angeles has been a professional golfer since 2019 and has two Top 10 finishes—another guy in the event looking for his first career win. Bhatia recently finished tied for 35th at the John Deere Classic, earning him $36,000 in prize money.
Lucas Glover +3000
One of the veterans in the event, and probably our top choice to win this event. The 43-year-old from Greenville, South Carolina, and the former Clemson Tiger golfer has four career wins. This season, he has finished in the Top 10 twice. Both those finished were recent, with back-to-back weeks. Tied for 4th at the Rocket Mortgage, followed by Tied for 6th at the John Deere Classic. Glover comes into the event as the hottest player in the field.
Kevin Streelman +3000
The 44-year-old is enjoying his 22nd year on the PGA Tour. The former Duke University golfer has two career wins, and a Top 10 finish this season. That finish came at the Charles Schwab Challenge, back in late May. Streelman made the cut at the US Open, and finished inside the Top 50 earning him nearly $50K in prize money.
