AFC South Battle: Houston Texans at Indianapolis Colts

The Texans have gotten off to a very poor start this year, winless in their first three games. The return of Deshaun Watson was supposed to help revitalize the offense, but that has not happened even in the slightest yet.

JJ Watt’s return was supposed to revive the pass-rush. Nope. 0-3, and looking to avoid an almost season-ending 0-4 hole, they must beat their division rival.

Another QB who has struggled in his return is Andrew Luck. Used to seeing him sling it all over the field, we saw last week that the team doesn’t even trust him to throw a hail mary, as they brought in Jacoby Brissett for the final play.

His yardage totals are down, his team’s offense looks awful, but for once, the Colts have a defense! That will play a big part this week.

Houston Texans

Yeah, nothing is going according to plan for these guys, and it is only getting worse. They have put up decent offensive numbers, but all of them seem to be coming late in the game when they are trying as hard as they can to tie it up. The first three-quarters report would show that they do not have much to be proud of this year. Nevertheless, it is never too late to try and right the ship, and it could happen this very week for the Texans, while they are in Indianapolis.

With DeAndre Hopkins off to another strong start, he had led a decent group of receivers, made better by the return of Will Fuller to the lineup. They are still not getting much from the tight end spot, and no receiver besides the two of these guys has more than 90 yards through three weeks, which is slightly concerning. Everything has to be better for them.

Indianapolis Colts

They have not been very good offensively this year, but they finally have a defense! Something that was their downfall the past few years looks competitive now. The run-game has looked very weak between Wilkins, Mack, and Hines, and is going to need to start getting better, because it is preventing Luck from being able to effectively use the play-action. Speaking of Luck, he is only averaging 220 yards per game, and he has thrown three interceptions in as many weeks.

Ryan Grant and Eric Ebron have proved to be decent targets for Luck, guys who will need to continue to play well. He just needs to start slinging the ball, because that is what used to make him so dangerous, before the injury. He hardly looks the QB he was before, and his strong play is the only way for them to turn things around.

Colts improve to 2-2, keep Texans winless

Yikes. The Texans still do not have a win. A winning effort from the Colts will help to carry them. 250 yards and three TD”s without any INT’s from Luck will play a big part. Now, Deshaun is 0-4.
