The 3M Open is set to begin on Thursday, July 21, from the TPC Twin Cities in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Unlike most PGA Tour events, you aren’t going to see many of the best players in the world teeing it up.
All of the world’s best golfers were over in the UK this past weekend for the Open Championship, and most of those players have decided to skip this event. That doesn’t mean that this event will be any less exciting, but it could mean that a virtual unknown will top the leaderboard.
The 3M Open betting odds are now out and updated, and bets can now be made.
Three Golfers Standing Out
As players continued to decline the opportunity to travel to Minnesota this weekend, the betting odds really started to change. Now that the field is set, there are really only three golfers at the top of the odds list that are recognizable to the average fan.
Tony Finau is the betting favorite to win the 3M Open this weekend, with odds set at +1300. Finau has been pretty inconsistent in 2022, but he has the skills to win any time that he tees it up.
Following Finau is Hideki Matsuyama at +1600 and Sungjae Im at +1800. That pair of golfers can go on a big run as well, and they will be crowned the champion if they are at the top of their games this weekend in Minneapolis.
Interesting List of Contenders
It’s hard to really say there is a big favorite this weekend, but there is definitely a loaded group of top contenders. This is typically the case for any PGA Tour event, but this list of contenders is going to look a lot different as it is filled with mostly young players or those that have yet to win on the PGA Tour.

Two players that have gotten plenty of attention leading up to this event are Davis Riley (+2500) and Brendan Steele (+3300). Riley has been on a nice run of late, and Steele is one of the best on tour at gaining drives off of the tee.

One of the three betting favorites in this event could easily play well enough to win this weekend, but it’s best to look and see about finding a different option. Even though there aren’t a ton of big names in the group of contenders, some of those golfers are actually extremely talented.
Davis Riley has quietly been putting together an impressive string of golf, and this weekend will provide a great chance for him to really make a name for himself. Forget about taking the biggest names and bet on Davis Riley at +2500 to win the 3M Open in Minnesota.
