Yen Dang Earns First WSOP Bracelet with Ladies No-Limit Hold’em Championship Win

Event #51 of the 2012 World Series of Poker was a Ladies event that had a buy-in of $1,000. The No Limit Hold’em championship event saw a total of 935 players register to compete and in the end it was Yen Dang earning the first place win. With the win, twenty five year old Dang earned her first WSOP bracelet.

By Day 2, Dang was able to earn a nice chip stack and she managed to take the chip lead by the time the final table was decided. It would not be long before heads up play would begin between Dang and Debbie Pechac and after just a few hands, they tournament was over.

A total of twelve hands would take place during Heads up play before Dang would earn the win. Going in to heads up play, Dang already had the chip lead and she would continue to hold on for the next few hands before it was all over.

When just twelve hands had been played, Dang held the chip lead and then opened betting on the next hand with a raise to 75,000 from the button. Pechac decided to reraise to 200,000 and Dang decided to call.

The flop fell K-Q-8 and then a few seconds later Pechac decided to go all in. Dang looked at her opponent and then called. Pechac held J-10 and Dang held Q-7. Dang had the pair but Pechac was hoping for the straight. A 4 on the turn was no help to Pechac and the J on the river wasn’t either, so she was out in second place, leaving Dang with the tournament win.
