WSOPC to Take Place Online in 2021

The year 2020 wasn’t really a good one, especially when it comes to live poker tournaments, as most of them were canceled and postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We’re already two weeks into 2021, but the future of live poker still looks uncertain despite the vaccination process taking place all over the world.

One thing is certain — the World Series of Poker Circuit organizers didn’t want to take any chances, so they decided to bring the entire experience online.

There will be monthly WSOPC events taking place throughout 2021, as stated in the official press release on WSOP.com.

Players will have an opportunity to compete for a total of 180 gold rings, and almost every WSOPC stop will feature a total of 12 ring events (some will have 18 ring events).

Of course, the end of the WSOPC 2021 will be celebrated with a year-end championship event, and such was the case in the previous years. The best WSOPC players will have an opportunity to take part in the Global Casino Championship.

13 Series?

The WSOPC had a pretty clear idea for every past year — 12 series for 12 months of the year. In other words, there’s one series per month, and it seems that things will look pretty much the same in 2021, except the entire thing will take place on the web.

The series will be available to players who are located in Nevada and New Jersey. However, the WSOP’s official press release hints at another mystery market that could perhaps become available in 2021.

In order to make WSOPC lovers play their favorite Circuit events, WSOP joined forces with Caesars’ properties, which now offer exclusive rates for players who want to visit New Jersey or Nevada to take part in the popular tournament.

Every “host” property will offer exclusive rates, and the hosts change for every series. For example, Caesars AC will be the host for the May WSOPC series, whereas Rio Las Vegas will host the August Circuit.

As for the potential for the 13th series, it could actually be part of the mystery regulated market from the WSOP presser. Michigan comes to mind, as it was one of the latest states to legalize online poker, although there is no official news about WSOP being one of the brands to offer its services there.

The other more likely possibility is Pennsylvania, which recently launched online gambling, including online poker. WSOP.com actually obtained a license to operate in the state, but it hasn’t launched any official platforms.

Winter Online Super Circuit

The first series in the 2021 World Series of Poker Circuit will begin on January 14 and end on January 31. It is called Winter Online Super Circuit and will the first one of its kind, paving the way for other series throughout the year.

Until the Covid-19 pandemic stabilizes, the safest way to play poker will be online. However, make sure to follow the news regarding WSOPC, as some changes may take place later in 2021.
