The Main Event of the World Series of Poker Circuit stop that took place at the Horseshoe Baltimore has come to an end, with Faisal Siddiqui topping the list and being crowned a champion. A total of 303 players applied for the Main Event, and Siddiqui eventually managed to emerge in first place, winning a total of $113,143.
On top of that, he won his first WSOPC gold ring ever and joined the list of winners of this prestigious event.
One interesting thing about Siddiqui is that he actually plays poker for fun. He never considered himself a professional poker player, as the card game was primarily his hobby, rather than his profession.
Nevertheless, he has had several very good runs during his career and even managed to win a couple of hefty prizes along the way. His best run had been at the same tournament back in 2015 when he was very close to actually winning the WSOPC Main Event.
Siddiqui was, naturally, very happy about his victory — not so much about the prizes, but rather about the fact that he finally managed to become a Main Event Champion, which was his dream all along.
He commented on his past experiences, saying that he had ended up second when the WSOP Circuit visited Horseshoe for the first time. He added that he had been very close to winning the title back then, but that he failed to achieve that.
Nevertheless, Siddiqui concluded that it felt pretty good surpassing the previous result and actually taking it down this time.
Moreover, Siddiqui commented on his perception of poker, saying that he liked the game as it allows poker amateurs to compete at the same tournaments as poker professionals, and that amateurs can actually beat pros due to the element of luck in the game. Siddiqui also stated that he liked playing golf, but that there was no way to beat skillful golf players.
The Final Table Results
There were a total of nine players who managed to make it to the final table at the Main Event. The first one to hit the rail was Chris Grove, who managed to win $9,399. The next one in line was Ryan Tamanini, who ended up eighth and won $11,860.
Seventh place belonged to Mark Redding, who managed to win $15,247. He was followed by Joseph Cashen in sixth place. Cashen earned $19,961.
Fifth place was occupied by the only non-American player at the final table, Shinya Shimada, who won $26,605. Michael Wang ended up fourth and won $36,089, and Ryan Jones followed soon after, ending up third and earning $49,810.
Joseph Malebranche and Siddiqui remained to compete for the final prize in the heads-up part of the game. Siddiqui was a better player, and Malebranche had to settle for second place and a prize of $69,925.
