Maurice Hawkins, a Wisconsin native poker player, thrilled his fans over three years ago when he won his 14th World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) ring after winning the WSOPC Choctaw tournament. His victory increased his ring difference with other top players like Josh Reichard and Valentin Vornicu.
Yet, Reichard recently bagged his 14th gold ring and $253,073 in the 2023 WSOPC Grand Victoria Casino Main Event, 1,198 days after Hawkins’ victory. Reichard currently ties with Hawkins, each of them having the most rings in WSOPC history. The former won his 13th gold ring in the WSOPC Horseshoe Council Bluffs Main Event.
The champion added that his run has been inspiring of late as he has made 13 cashes this year, and his poker career earnings exceed $2.3 million. He has won most of the 2023 payouts at WSOP Circuit stops that earned him four cashes. Besides, he cashed five times in March at the Hammond stop.
Reichard said that poker players have to be confident to get good streaks. Thus, an individual who runs and plays well is confident and luck is on their side. Still, one can be on a bad streak at times and fail to win a hand in several months.
The poker pro amassed 912 Card Player Player of the Year (POY) points in his recent victory. He has reached four final tables and increased his POY earnings to $313,000. Statistics show that he ties in the 58th position with David “ODB” Baker in the 2023 POY standings.
Even so, the latest $1,700 buy-in no-limit hold’em tournament featured 954 players who formed a $1,445,310 prize pool. It had three starting flights and the leading 137 entrants cashed more than $2,500. They included Ken Baime, Millard Hale, Brett Apter, Aaron Johnson, Kyna England, Brad Jansen, Brian Altman, Ralph Massey, Jared Ingles, Angela Jordison, Michael Wang, and Roland Israelashvili.

Only 103 entrants advanced to Day 2 and they set the nine-handed final table after 12 hours. Reichard had the second-largest stack as Ryan Julius, Luke Graham, Christopher Moon, and Nicola Ditrapani got busted successively in the seventh, sixth, fifth, and fourth positions.
Reichard had a 3:1 stack lead over Jordan Lowery in their heads-up action. The latter’s AClub Suit10Heart Suit clashed with the former’s ADiamond Suit4Diamond Suit in an all-in preflop.
