WSOP New Jersey Teams Up With New York Rangers

wsopJust last week the WSOP.com released a new promotion associated with the New York Rangers. The new promotion made one question as to if the online poker group was working with the NHL team and now confirmation has been made. According to a recent report by PokerNews, the WSOP has now become the official gaming partner for the New York Rangers.

The National Hockey League team will now be working with the online poker site to provide autographed team merchandise and tickets to events, among other things. The new promotion is available from now until April 5th at the WSOP New Jersey site and is a sweepstakes type contest.

Players have the opportunity to earn one of four grand prizes that total a combined value of $15,000. The giveaway includes autographed Rangers jerseys and tickets to home games. The promotion even includes one player earning the opportunity to bring a Rangers player to their home to watch an upcoming game between NY and Montreal on the 12th of next month! Players will have to make a deposit by the 5th of April to be eligible for the promotion. Enter the code NYRANGERS to gain access to the sweepstakes style promotion.

This is only the second partnership to take place in the United States involving an online poker group and sports team. Just a few months ago, PartyPoker/Borgata teamed up with NHL team the New Jersey Devils as well as NBA team, the Philadelphia 76ers.

With this partnership, PartyPoker was able to use radio and television as advertisement as well as use the team venues for promotion. As poker players tend to be sports fans, the partnerships are created to try and draw in new players to the sites. It will be interesting to see if the WSOP begins to use the same tactics via the New York Rangers.
